From what I can tell, most other major bookmakers (inc. Ladbrokes, Bet365, PaddyPower, ****) took the decision to declare any single bets on Grand Jesture in yesterdays Bet365 Gold Cup as void, and gave a full (cash) refund.  Betfair only seem to have offered a partial refund up to £25 in the form of a free bet (obviously this is just on the Sportsbook not the exchange)... more of a token gesture than a grand one I think!

Any chance of matching the other major bookmakers on this Betfair??... I'm sure all bookies had a pretty good day yesterday with the extra interest generated by AP factor (and only limited payout on the short priced place finish of Box Office).

any1 who backed GJ is v lucky to get a refund imo, it is a concession only and not a punter's right to have their money returned

I also think it was scandalous what happened at the start, the starter should be reprimanded for not giving the horse more of a chance and even worse to say it was under orders is sickening

Agree that a refund is a generous concession by any bookmaker in these circumstances, and not a punters right, but when one (or in this case, several) other companies set the standard by giving a full refund, it would be good if other companies could follow suit and match that concession... that's definitely a good way to win (or lose) customer loyalty!!

i placed a bet with skybet saw a note saying all bets were refunded, when my wasnt i politely emailed them to ask why and was sent this charming email

your horse ran lost and so no refund

they then rather stupidly emailed me a questionaire asking how my query had been dealt with,i sent a few barrels back by email about the rather sharp reply and obviously told them my account will be emptied and i,ll be taken my rather profityable buisness [ for them ] Laugh elsewhere

If I had backed the horse, which I didn't, I would have expected no refund and put it down as unfortunate but a loser nonetheless.

no problem with that but skybet put out a circular saying full refund, its only a small amount but i,d hate to think i was the only sky customer who didnt benefit
