With his backers he is sure to find the odd gem, however as a trainer he is absolute wank, a horrid trainer.

Only had 2 months to prepare a farewell winner for the best jockey to have ever sat on a national hunt horse.

yes , im pretty positive all racing fans will look back and remember he didn't ride a winner in last race

So did Paul Nicholls and could Nicky Henderson not have put him on a winner in the last, but the trainers don't choose the conditions of the races and besides, I'm not really sure an 18-20 runner ultra competitive handicap hurdle is the best kind of race to ensure a winner on any occasion anyway.

You can't really win on here though and no doubt if McCoy had won on it, plenty would have been calling it a fix and a jockeys race, with accusations of the trainer and owner hiding the horse's true ability too thrown in just for good measure.

His mounts had chances but no one with a brain really expected him to ride a winner. Box Office 5/2 fav was a joke.

AP wanted his last mount to be for Jonjo and JP who to him are a lot more to him than just a trainer and an owner

As far the gentleman who started this thread goes Jonjo's dog has more brains than him.

Jonjo gets thing landing on his driveway with a tag saying "Train this" round their necks that would be better placed on Blackpool Beach and still manages to get a win or 2 out of them.

We are talking about a man who somehow manged to sweeten up and win a race at the Festival with the biggest nutjob imaginable in Butler's Cabin

ima_mazed66's list speaks for itself and you can add to that the fact he won just about everything there was to win as a jockey.

He fought his way back from cancer, trains over 100 winners every year, having known him for years he is an absolute gem of a guy with complete loyalty to his friend boss JP

The fact he wouldn't show you a birds nest when it comes to JP's horses annoys punters but then they don't pay the bills so they mouth of like cry babies

The second line of your post is spot on, add the day was also one big party for his fellow jockeys and connections.

People were talking about his last rides, their prices etc., would the other jockeys let him win on his last ride. If that was going to happen they certainly wouldn't have chosen an eighteen runner competitive handicap hurdle.

In essence he has been semi-retired for weeks.

On balance ending in front of a big crowd in a fair standard race was the call win (preferably) or lose and plenty of other scenarios could have been disastrous.
