Can anybody enlighten me as to how 'Croft in the Know' operates?  His ads are constantly full of wonderful winners - does he actually tip these individually or are they just mentioned in passing in a long rambling message costing heaven-knows how much?  Is he really as good as he claims?

if he was as good as he claims why does he need to rope in dopes?

Surely the Racing Post editor wouldn't allow a blatantly misleading advert to appear?

Greenacres, if you check the small print, most of the tipster adverts in the RP (including Thommo's) are run by a company called Centurycomm.

That is the Racing Post...

Greenacres, virtually all tipping lines are profit shares, usually driven by the publication, not the tipster.

That's why they have columns in the Weekender that are written by the person advertising their tipping line beneath the text(Norton, for example)...

Greenacres the clue is in the falling circulation of the (I guess soon to be discontinued) print version of the Rancid Post...

Check out the Sports section at the back and notice how the alleged "tips" are shared out amongst those "Bookmakers" that are advertisers.

I would reckon that in a calender year each advertiser will have been mentioned in proportion to their spend..

The muppets that tip (and that includes the allegedly clinically insane Guardian preacher) could not make a profit if they had the Rancid Post 24 hours in advance.

That Corals shop in Canary Wharf is a licence to print money...

Thank you for your replies - I did suspect it was all too good to be true but never to the extent that has been revealed - quite incredible and I do wonder just how many poor souls are duped on a daily basis to spend their hard-earned on these 'tips'....

Croft regularly highlights names of winning horses

Croft regularly highlights forthcoming maximum bets

Croft never highlights a medium / long term profit figure (eq Quarterly or Annual etc)

Have always believed that some of the emotive language used to highlight a bet that day can be construed as knowing that skullduggery is possibly taking place.....

It is all bu llshi t..

None of those alleged "tipsters" make a profit..

Even Pricewise with a 40/1 winner at Cheltenham is tipping too many to make a profit..

They have plucked that Golden Goose until its beak shot into space..

There is not a person with a brain, access to stable comments the day before, trainerform and unlimited accounts that could not make an alleged profit on a few races on a Saturday..

Trouble is he has been milked to death and a new Guitar In Town is needed..

Step forward the James Bond lookalike...RICHARD BIRCH..

He has the charisma and he is already a regular winner despite not having the advantages of being pricewise and the "almost" mythical prices that he can access..LaughLaugh

Exactly, and if a tipster is too cheap they smell a rat, but if he is expensive they seem to think he has something worthwhile to offer. WinkCrazy

There is enough free advice available on forums and free websites to make a decent profit, absolutely no need to sign up to these shysters....

Any one of us on this forum could start a tipping service and advertise in the rpost and newspapers and we could make a fortune, doesn't matter if you are profitable, you only need to advertise winners, so long as you get them on a regular basis you would be fine, plenty readers of post and papers and think oh this is good lets pay......  If it goes t1ts up, it doesn't matter, someone else will come along and pay and so on......

Shocking really but why does it happen? I think anyone with a genuine interest in racing would have no interest at all in signing up to a tipster, its for people looking to make a quick buck and they get what they deserve, these d1rtbags shouldn't be allowed to advertise as they do but then where they advertise is equally rancid!!

Another example, A1racing private service, look at website - only lists winners - no mention of losers and they want 895 per year or 125 per month Laugh

If you want list of bets/results, you have to email them and they could send you anything, if they were genuine then all selections/results would be made available to public within their website...

Another chap local to me, Mr Gorrie, has multiple services and has an enormous subscriber base YET it runs at a loss Laugh
His best service is actually the FREE one, its ahead every year Laugh
