Report andsmithmustscore March 13, 2015 7:50 PM GMT
Typical Carberry shocking ride. Obsessed with dropping things out last. Gave The Saint James exactly the same ride yesterday. Sat right out the back and gave it no chance of winning. If he rides Eastlake mid division it wins. Once in a blue moon he gets one home ( normally in a much smaller field where you have some hope ) and everyone raves about him being a genius. People seem to overlook the amount he gets beat that probably should have won by sitting out the back. Have to agree if McCoy had ridden it he would probably be signing off from the festival with a winner.
Report tashkent terror March 13, 2015 8:02 PM GMT
and dont forget Taglietelle yesterday....3 shockers in 2 days.

Nina would have won on all 3Wink
Report Dan Chipowski March 13, 2015 8:06 PM GMT
He f*cks about out the back and does his own thing, the bloke is a clown. Literally gave Eastlake and TSJ zero chance of winning, and you could take the cynical viewpoint that he basically hasn't touched either until he was sure the first choice JP horse couldn't win.
Report homefortea March 13, 2015 8:16 PM GMT
Not the best Jockey but thank yourself lucky that you are not in the Jockeys room when someone wants a light...

couldn't work out the ride given to eastlake either........looked well dodgy....

Carberry handed a 2 day ban for excessive use of whip on Eastlake  !!
Report Facts March 14, 2015 1:22 AM GMT
Had a decent Cheltenham profit wise, but Eastlake would  seem to be ' the one that got away '

Time for PC to retire gracefully. He's fast becoming a disgrace.

These threads through luck or design have a habit of provoking further comment, fingers crossed Carberry will have his riding head on for the Midlands Grand National later today....!

McCoys race to lose surely.
Report Cork Langer March 14, 2015 1:57 AM GMT
Very much so, but he has lost plenty before and not convinced he'll get the best out of the horse, Hutchinson and McLernon much less aggressive riders, though horse maybe good enough to give McCoy an armchair ride with its lightweight, at price wouldn't play or lay it.
Report palacegatetouch March 14, 2015 7:28 AM GMT
he is a 3rd class knut!!! i backed both taglietelle and eastlake, did he not realise all festival front runners where prone 2 winning pillar 2 post...so if he sat mid division rather than 10/15 lengths off em he might b in the winners circle!!!!!
was gonna back the winnewr in the last but trainer put me off by saying grd has gone against his nag!!!SadSadSadSad
Report geoff m March 14, 2015 7:56 AM GMT

I dont agree with palacegate.
Surely its 1st class.
Im not sure whether he is totally braindead or just an arrogant tw@t who thinks his style of riding is the best.
Where the fook had he been all week and which races had he seen that suggested held up out the back would be the best strategy.
It is inconceivable that 90% of the hosses he rides need holding up, they aint all Harchibald.
Not sour grapes as didnt have a financial interest in the hoss
Report brendrew March 14, 2015 7:57 AM GMT
you know what you are going to get so why keep betting him-no one but yourselves to blame.

you need to factor that into your betting not come on here whining.
Report louisone March 14, 2015 9:04 AM GMT
all i see all week was all the horses that got a soft lead WON! and i see all the horses that were ridden from the back hit trouble like k.walsh on a horse that should have won half the track, broadway buffallo, how many jocky's got the instruction sit out the back after seeing all the backmarkers struggling to get a run IT AINT ROCKET SCIENCE!
Report Somerset Sam March 14, 2015 9:10 AM GMT
Add in Waxies Dargle, to Carberry's questionable rides of the week. He's either acting out orders or trying to be too clever. I suspect the latter. Of course the racing press wont hear a word of it, brilliant horseman, maverick, natural talent, blah blah blah.

Waxies, never put in the race, can only think he didnt want to get in the way of the triers. Grin

Plenty on here wont have had a bet on a horse ridden by him, but thanks for the words of wisdom.

Is this thread for real? If you think carbury is a bad jock why back him? If you think hes a good jock who is prone to leaving his horse out the back (ala pat smullen) then wait until the the second furlong  to see if he's up with the pace then back him or not - your talking like you think he's one of the worst jocks around but there again you backed him ? Don't get it

anyone who breaks his back in a fall then gets back up , overcomes alcoholism and is instantly recognised as one of the best ever by his peers is a fecking good horseman

irish..

Plenty have done it fella and plenty will do it again...

Mostly Oirish but a few local fellas have been guilty..

However you cannot compare jumping out of your car onto the hard shoulder to lying in lush grass on a racecourse..

We know that the British have paid for everything in Eire but surely the roads are now paved now....Whoops

So he heals well and stays off the booze. What the hell's all that got to do with his constant habit of giving his mounts too much to do.

One of the best ever, do me a favour. He's not even the best jockey in his family, Nina showed him in the foxhunters where you needed to be this week.

he had a cracking ride in the midlands national.

i guess the whiners will be happy as they will have laid him.Personally bet him e/w for decent return.

He's a top horseman and there is no getting away from that-do you think meade/jp/hughes/jonjo would bother with him if he was no good. You know what you get with him so appreciate him while he is still riding.
Report Facts March 15, 2015 10:11 AM GMT
Sorry. Don't appreciate losing out on a potential £2k return by a badly ( imo) misjudged ride - as witnessed on Eastlake. I'm convinced that had McCoy been on board, the horse would have won.
Report Deptford March 15, 2015 10:35 AM GMT
That was a truly shocking ride, end of argument
