After a great Tuesday and an okay Wednesday, yesterday was very frustrating with Call The Cops(who only came into the top four ratings due to Closing Ceremony being a non runner) the only winner on the day, and four seconds to boot. Still nicely up at the meeting though and hoping for better luck today. Doesn`t look any easier though does it?

Excellent Cheltenham with 3 very nice winners final day. A total of 21 betting races for 10 winners overall. Very happy with that.

A great Tuesday?

From your 7 top-rateds, you found 1 winner, at 4/6.

From your total of 21 horses (3 per race), you found 4 winners, at 2/1, 4/6, 4/5 and 8/1.

How is that great?

You completely missed The Druid's Nephew, which was generally regarded as the handicap good thing of the day.

"still nicely up on the meeting"

Not if you actually work out the figures.

Your top-rated showed a small profit on Weds (2.12), but losses of -7 and -5.33 on Thurs and Tues.

Taking your top 3 (Tues) and your top 4 (Weds and Thurs) - and allowing you Call The Cops, which you never put up, you showed a loss every day: -5.53 on Tues, -12.87 on Weds, and -11.5 on Thurs.

So unless you have a magic staking plan that enables you to stake much bigger on your winners than on your losers, you're talng sh!te.

Apolgies, top-rated showed a loss of only -6 on Thurs - there were only 6 races.

What a load of nonsense - posted by the OP

He gives the second-highest Officially rated (174) Chaser in the land - Silviniano  a 'level weights' rating of 115.

Yet awards the 4-yr-old Peace and Co (Officially rated 19 lb LESS at 155) a 'level weights' (not including a theoretical 8lb weight-for-age) a rating of 118 ... 3lbs MORE than Silviniaco.

These are nowhere near being pure ratings.

Just something he has dreamt up - probably using basic ideology like adding up previous Form figures etc, and all that kind of simplistic approach.

Hi guys many thanks for your replies. First of all I never bet single horses at a meeting like Cheltenham,if prices allow I try to back up to 4.I use proportional staking, work my stakes out as close to SP as I can get and back at Betfair SP. I don't bet in races with an odds on favourite, in the Cross Country or Bumper. The other race I didn't bet in was the RSA were I strongly fancied Son Poli. Therefore there were 21 remaining races giving 2 top rated,3 second top rated 1 third top and 4 fourth top rated winners.

That should have read Don Poli of course sorry about that I am working on my hudl.
To onlooker I would just say that my nonsense enabled me to make over £800 profit at the meeting, and a healthy profit every year.
