Dave just sayed on RUK that he has to have an off duty policeman beside him in the ring in case of trouble - and that there have been a couple of instances

These guys were pros when times were a lot different.
Same with poker where I feel has a lot of similarities that translates well to horse racing betting. was reading last night that Phil Ivey now has a losing account and considered a fish by a lot of the kids he was beating back in the day. now whenever he logs on online the tables fill up and the waiting list to play him is long.
Same with these old pros like Nevison. Times have changed. if you want to make it you need to be much more mathematical, strategic and analytical. You need to adapt or get out and do something else...like appearing on RUK and trying to school kids who probably know far more than him on betting strategy.

Twenty years ago when you could slink around the courses without any suspicion, you often spotted the odd horse that was ready to win but for some reason didn't. I used to wonder why the bookies never noticed but they are making books not watching the races. Now with all the races shown live and the exchanges it's a very different game, so I suspect he could make a living betting but different kettle of fish these day's you need to be in the know to win any money.

1sttimeposter has it dead right. Nevison is living proof that "anyone can make a small fortune out of racing, given that they have a large fortune to start with." (Lord Oaksey)

99.9% professional gamblers you will never here about, as they don't have the time for the celebrity lifestyle. If someone claims to be a professional but going on tv to earn extra cash saids to me there brass.

Dave was just like a lot of punters until Eddie helped him and showed him what he needed to do.
Eddie told him as he told me don't get to greedy.
Dave got greedy and he also got lucky.
Dave then thought he was super man and stopped talking to us mortals.
He stated to walk around like he was a king.
When his luck run out he came down with a big bump.
As I have said before be careful how you talk to people on the way up because you will have to see them again on the way down.
I would give him a £5 if I did see him again to help him out to show I have forgiven him.

Name the stable lad turn bookmaker who Dave took to Tatts and got warned off ?
Channel four talked the stable lad turn bookie up and Dave jumped in with a £500 ew double but for Dave there was no pay out as he had no money to pay.
Eddie and I asked Dave at the time why place a bet like that with that sort of bookie ? I should have known then and there what a muppet Dave really was.
As I said before what goes around comes around Dave was very lucky he has not been taken to Tatts.

Why don't you write a book about how you lost all your money ?
You might like to say sorry in it to the people who lost money with your BODOUGI company
Have you ever said sorry to anybody about anything ?
Do you know the story of Icarus ?
Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son. Daedalus tried his wings first, but before trying to escape the island, he warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea, but to follow his path of flight. Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared into the sky, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which due to the heat melted the wax. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms, and so Icarus fell into the sea in the area which today bears his name, the Icarian Sea near Icaria, an island southwest of Samos
You remind me of Icarus you wanted to be above everybody Eddie told you not to be to greedy just like Daedalus told his son not to fly to high.

The last part of his 2nd book indicated that he lost all his cash. Aimlessly going for the big hit on Scoop6, it was sad reading, he wasn't a professional or acting like one.
