1st meeting in june

Just saw it lottie - paddy field springs to mind ! Perhaps somebody with knowledge of these things will tell us how long it takes from grass sowing to the ground being being ready for the footfall of racehorses given 'a fair wind' ?
By:
Should be closed down for good
By:
great little track, nice fair gallop, only problem is,the locals have 17 fingers on each hand(i think that is why the abacus never caught on up there) and their dress sense is laughable.
But all in all quite a nice track |
By:
Horses will cut it too bits . . . Not a hope of it being ready even given a fair wind i m o.

Thanks Dickie. Perhaps they could rename it AW Great Yarmouth to get started on time. Just what the sport needs !!!

An extract from the Great Yarmouth Mercury (Friday, February 20th 2015)
"Due to a high rainfall over the winter it has not been possible to commence reseeding. We are still aiming to ensure racing can recommence in June." Susannah Gill, ARC spokeswoman |

I assume the Great Yarmouth Mercury is a free paper !!

In the lap of the weather Gods!

Should be bulldozed along with the entire county. Highest percentage of inbreds per capita worldwide.
By:
considering they closed the track early last 20th sept I believe to commence the remedial work they seem to have made a complete dogs dinner of it . with my limited knowledge of growing grass it wud seem pretty unlikely to have any racing there in 2015

Morning flash,
By:
morning wease sadly I think glenn tubby has put us away things certainly don't look too bright for y'mouth for 2015
By:
flash,
As you know, originally they were hoping to recommence racing on 26th June. If this were not possible, I wonder if they might target 15th September (Opening day of the Eastern Festival)? It would give them, in effect, another 11 weeks! |
By:
They want to get themselves down to B&Q and load up on rolls of turf

As for pre-paid Annual members ? A right admin. mess ! Have you ever grown 'grass' TNM ? If so you could offer yourself as a consultant

By:
The local rag is named 'The Mercury' after the drink they have been feeding to babies for generations there.

By:
so we can presume they will scrap all meetings at yarmouth until september and those scumbags at ARC will transfer all meetings to their poxy AW tracks instead
By:
In other news, another racetrack is already trying to flog Christmas Parties at it's racetrack.... desperate times
By:
Sorry TNM. What do you call it ?

Graminoid!

By:
sneaked in for a look this morning
all on schedule for June 2017 !!!!! |
By:
Sept will be ideal so u bookies can pay your marketing fee again!
By:
yea they said june ,but did not say which year ,100/1 to race there this year .
a hot summer could give it probs ,should have been seeded last year imo ,will need a year to settle . no great loss to punters imo |
By:
i like yarmouth
By:
put in an application for affordable housing
![]() |
By:
Marketing fee sugar ? I am sure that eventualities such as this will have been allowed for by those who put this 'popular' charge in place.
By:
the days of having likes of dubia millenuim and ouija borad are clearly gone, the racing gets poorer every year.
Cant believe the way things are going they havent gone for the all weather option, make the trip sharper to suit the bookmakers, flood lit, having racing there 12 months a year. |

Ravens Pass (25/1), the outsider of three Gosden runners in an early season maiden.
Also, for older forum members, Midway Lady was beaten in a maiden at the track. I can't remember the name of the two year old Ben Hanbury sent to the track as the biggest certainty he ever sent to a racecourse. Beaten, but won at Royal Ascot next time out! |

Beaten fav at Yarmouth, then won the Chesham at 50/1 ![]() |
