MONDAY'S meeting at Plumpton is subject to an 8am inspection on the morning of racing with the
overnight forecast causing concern.

The ground was described as heavy, soft in places on Sunday and local forecasts suggests the course could face anywhere between eight and 12mm of rain overnight.

I was just this minute checking the weather forecast for the track.

Monday
Cold and rather breezy through the day, with sunny spells and occasional showers. Heavier showers may turn wintry at times, with a risk of hail also.
Dry overnight however so I'd say it's a goer.

From the BBC website TNM for Plumpton.

This Evening and Tonight
Rain in the evening and early night will gradually clear away east after midnight, with winds easing and some clear spells developing, leading to a dry but chilly end to the night.

If Lingfield is already "waterlogged in places" and more rain is forecast, why are they even bothering to have a token look at 9am in the morning?  Purely for show, presumably?

Where are you mange,  Raining admittedly but not a lot, and lots of wind. Stick reading 4ish, so will not need a lot, but this Clerks readings are usually totally honest.  I'd be hopeful for what its worth, but will pop along early for a stroll and clean upCool
