SIR DU BEARN does look a good thing , A good jumper and will probably lead all the way.
Leicester 4,10
This is a cracking race, but hard to fathom as the bug bear is the 20f trip.... on good ground.
FOLLOWING DREAMS is the horse I have been waiting for, but not over this trip, it has the best form here and I think would have been very hard to beat over 3m, it has a habit of hitting one and if this tace is run at pace, it could force more errors, as this is its seasonal debut and maybe not as fit as the others.
WOODVIEW PRINCE came back after a long lay off (unbeaten bar an UR on its debut) and was beaten by Junior, who didnt look straight forward in that race yet still manage to win, and no surprise to see WOODVIEW PRINCE finish 2nd when needing the race. WOODVIEW PRINCE has since won well over 3m, but really stays well and I have reservations about this trip being on the sharp side..... it seems to be a good jumper, but a low jumper... I just wonder if WOODVIEW PRINCE maybe doesnt stand that much racing , 2 runs in 2011, 2 runs in 2012, and only one run in 2013.... An interesting thing to note is that WOODVIEW PRINCE was trained by Sheila Crow in all those previous races, but has returned after the layoff for JJ O'Shea...I dont know why though. but its a rare occurrence that a horse actually improves when leaving the Crows,
Shelia Crow runs a very interesting "youngster" in MR MERCURIAL, this horse looks to travel and have a bit of speed and probably just get the 3m, this trip could be ideal. Looked to win its point easily, but was said to be blowing and "its class got it home", so it is plausible that it will come on a fair bit for that run. Paddy Gerety is a very good jock and his 5LB claim could make the difference.
Now I could have this totally wrong, but at the prices I am on MR MERCURIAL, I thing everything about this race will suit it more than the other two.
Sir Du Bearn looks like an evens money punt to me and my attempts to better that over night proved futile.
Mr Mercurial won what I think was a slightly above average Larkhill intermediate (Storm Lantern was a big disappointment), but did seem to be emptying fast after a proper 3m gallop. Difficult to weigh up Woodview Prince, but I do like what I've seen of Following Dreams. The shorter trip may help Mr Mercurial who has a recent run like Woodview Prince. Probably not a great deal between the three of them, so would say there's a bit of value siding with Mr Mercurial, but the market doesn't seem far wrong with those three. An interesting race nonetheless.
Good luck.

Got to agree with you here Koi on the Kelso race, never bothered looking at the other race. However this race at Kelso there's some decent amateurs riding.Alright I know a lot of you don't like lady jockeys but watch Emma Todd, this girl is very useful.Tom Hamilton another top notcher. Will Biddick may be the best known of these but he's in with a good bunch here, none of this oh it's daddy's horse thing so I'll get the ride. These jocks have got these rides because they can ride & not because of who their fathers etc.are.

Sir Du Bearn is a very hard ride, even under Biddick...Think the mare Barachois Silver will be a better each way punt in case the fav puts in a bad day...mare needed the run first time out and will come on plenty for her point pipe opener...
Woodview Prince fall no bet would be my selection but bookie chaps not that generous.
great write up as usual Koi

I blame the jockey again! should have sent it on instead of turning it into a sprint. Might not have won but would have had a better chance than waiting for the favorite to catch it up.

Well had another look at the race & had a sporting bet.Incase anything goes wrong with the jolly I've backed John Dawsons horse(Some something or other).True this horse did very little in Ireland pointing but it wasn't too bad on N.H..At Alnwick it went round quicker than B.S. & B.S.is more of a spring horse so why should it be about 80s when B.S. is in single figures?Laid B.S for a place also.

Played a draw on the race (apart from a few coppers)laid B.S. for a place to get my money back. The golden rule about B.S. is do not back it until the weather warms up.Come the end of March it will be a decent horse.Did you notice who rode the winner, this lad will be in demand when he turns conditional. One of the best young riders in the country at the moment.Emma also rode a cracker.

Race 6 - 4:30pm THE LINGLIE OPEN HUNTERS' STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 6) The Stewards considered the running of SIR DU BEARN (FR), ridden by Mr W. Biddick and trained by Mickey Bowen, which finished unplaced. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing revealed that SIR DU BEARN (FR) was lame left hind.
