Perhaps he's older than he looks.  Since he looks 13 that is probably true anyway.  I notice not all the family jewels are for sale.  Perhaps a cameo performance this year?

You're lucky regit.  I haven't enjoyed the game at all the last couple of years for the reasons you give.  Paperwork, admin, racecourses attitudes, ex's, traffic, hassle, hassle, hassle.  Unfortunately I'm too young to retire and too old to do anything else.

had a lot of fun at the start.
1.at catterick the firm i worked for used to opt on under the old system.they had laid 2 £5000 bets at about 2/1 the front 2 in a 5 runner in the credit office.so the job was to get the other 2 (outer a 50 shot).we were on the back line and just left the prices up.i was on the book first time and just trying to keep it neat.the rest of the ring stood in amazement as we striped the two horses but they were still winers on the off.they pulled up so we were going to do our dough even though the ring thought we were just laying dead horses.the 50 shot won and we were still laying evens on the run in.
2.other side of story at sedgefield.punter has 8 monkeys.ken tells person on computer at home to take all the 9/1.gives me the hedge bet £99-11.price crashes so kw decides to lay the fav £1000 at 3/1 and go for it.computer person backs it instead.hedge £3000-1000.goes on drift.lay bet £6000-1500.8/1 shot wins.ken on stool, daughter on computer at home.i knew whose fault it was going to be.THEY FORGAVE ME FOR THEIR MISTAKES.

I don't believe that any of us who are proper bookmakers enjoy it the same as we did . I've adapted with all changes and considered improvements made and do still enjoy life on the racecourse but mainly because I have much better pitches than I used to have.
as an accountant I can handle most hassle thrown my way but
if ,however , some of the aspects of the latest AGT nonsense are forced upon me [ and I don't pitch rent ] then I could quickly follow suit.
good luck , REGIT ,I'm surprised that you're in this country this month. I fly out tomorrow btw

Spot on Adge,my sentiments too, these forms are simply ridiculous,i do believe one particular person is largely responsible for this.
Like wasnot says I'm too old to do anything else and I guess its still better than most jobs but when you see how things work now its very hard to enjoy like before.

The AGT had to do something on pitch renting adge, despite 'innocent parties' such as yourself,  and presumably considered various methods they could employ. I know of some who are 'streamlining' their Schedule Y's in response and wonder if a migration from one type of schedule to another will bring a different set of questions that need to be answered ? Have a good holiday - don't spend the retirement fund too early ! Wink

Nineiron, nearest station is cattal on the York-Harrogate line about 3 miles away,if you're talking mainline stations York would be best,20-25 minutes away.

Wonder how many other loopholes exist for those disposed to use them ?  If and when the AGT pursues its 'P60 policy' what measures will they take against those who fail to provide the necessary documents ?
