don't be silly banners
massive difference between a slog in Dublin over 3 miles on a sh1te day and a bit of sun on his back on better ground at Chelters , hold on

Think the boy ran a decent race and suspect connections will be quietly pleased.
Report millhouse December 28, 2014 5:09 PM GMT
Wants an extreme test of stamina - Gold Cup and Hennessey both 3m2f - and if he gets to Cheltenham, would need some give, otherwise the quicker pace will find out his jumping, imho...
Report Noosa December 28, 2014 5:11 PM GMT
Think connections will be pretty happy after that
Report mansfieldman December 28, 2014 6:03 PM GMT
did you watch the same race as me? poor jumping, made errors and when asked to give at the last 2 faded away tamely, i dont want to write off his gold cup chances just yet but i wouldnt be tempted on last 2 showings

"wants an extreme test of stamina".....

What was today, a 2mile sprint?

My eyes saw a horse looked like it didn't fancy it at all....Cheltenham may well be different obviously but i saw no spark today, no ping jumps, no battle, no speed.

All about opinions i suppose
Report 1st time poster December 28, 2014 6:11 PM GMT
dont no what you were watching but for him probably for him one of his best rounds of jumping,bg seemed happy enough but outpaced down the back, fitness or engine gone ,ye pays your money and takes your choice
Report bannahan December 28, 2014 6:15 PM GMT
I just thought he looked slow?

I have been wrong many times before however
Report Noosa December 28, 2014 6:18 PM GMT
1sttimeposter - spot on. BG happy.

banahan he,s never pinged a fence in his life

I'm with you Banna.

BW is a horse that's never travelled or jumped particularly well. It's won the big prizes through sheer heart. Those sorts of horses don't tend to last long at the top level. The tough races take their toll.

I wouldn't be surprised if it never wins another race.
Report Big_Issue December 28, 2014 6:30 PM GMT
That's 3 damn good beatings in the last 4 runs for BW, perhaps he just isn't quite as good as he was as when winning the GC?

As for Silvianaco Conti, a pattern emerging here or what? Bad run, impressive win in KG, decent run but doesn't win GC.

Road To Riches has an improving profile, ground would seem to come alike, beat half the likely GC field there, what's not to like about his chances?

When was the last time a novice chaser won the GC please? Not in many's lifetime I would bet.

5 Runs in two years, says it all really. He`s much happier tucked up in his lavish stable than slogging it in the mud. Look at the irish trainers or P Nichols, they actually race their horses.
Report teedoubleu December 28, 2014 6:45 PM GMT
I thought after last years Gold cup that the horse needs cheek pieces not because he is ungenuine but because he races lazily in his races. He reminds me of See More Business, i believe its worth a shot to wake him up.
Report MJK December 28, 2014 7:18 PM GMT
Seemed to me as though Lord Windermere was ridden today with Cheltenham in mind. Could be value to win it again.
Report sageform December 28, 2014 7:20 PM GMT
Whatever Bobsworth does in the future, the likely reason for his poor run today is the same as whatever ails nearly all of the  Henderson Chasers. How anyone could back one of them is beyond me. River Maigue, well backed, last. Big Hands Harry and Grandouet  ran appalling races, Golden Hoof slightly better. French Opera the only one to approach his proper form. The hurdlers seem fine which makes it even more baffling.
Report Eeternaloptimist December 28, 2014 8:05 PM GMT
It was reported pre race that he looked in beautiful nick with his skin gleaming and he was backed accordingly.
Report racingstar December 28, 2014 8:09 PM GMT
"backed accordingly" and ran like a drain.
At least the Stable did not know.
The horse did the same last year at Newbury first time out.
