His theorem is follows:

The Vaughan Williams Possibility Theorem

If something might or might not exist, but is unobservable, it is more likely to exist than something which can be observed, with any positive probability, but is not observed. If something might or might not exist, it is more likely to exist if it is less likely to be observed and is not observed than something else which is more likely to be observed, and is not observed.

I don't mind listening to them - nice contrast between the intellectual and the anecdotal.

I'm not entirely sure the spreadsheet totally supported the theory that the market is more efficient than ever though (not saying it is n't, just that the data they presented did n't support the statement).

Thought Dave Nevison made some interesting points there regarding the longevity of the winning punter.

His remark that the bookies will have to become better at advertising the winners as the market becomes super efficient was quite forward thinking.

I am slightly more optimistic than him that a few people on here can still have a decent run at this before walking away from the game and cashing in their pensions.

Ultimately though he is probably right and this is another example of the corporations winning.

The only way out is if we become like Hong Kong and have those pari mutual pools that prof LVW was talking about but that will never happen here because the big bookies will have MPs lobbying against that. Oh well only 20 yrs till the pension

Dave said he rarely bets now, that he has spent the last 7 months studying 6,500 systems that he has come across.....to sort out which ones are profitable.

His old system which he mentioned LIVE on RUK on the 5th April 2008 was to put sellotape on the LAY button every time Jomus ran, that the horse never wins came undone, when Jomus romped in at 9/1............
