A thread about a sad individual whose only pleasure in life is to start threads about mythical prices and bets which are available only in his cloud cuckoo mind. How very, very sad is that
Cloud Cuckoo Land refers to an unrealistically idealistic state where everything is perfect. ("You're living in cloud cuckoo land, mate.") It hints that the person referred to is naïve, unaware of reality or deranged in holding such an optimistic belief.
The reference comes from The Birds,[1] a play by Aristophanes in which Tereus helps Pisthetairos (which can be translated as "Mr. Trusting") and Euelpides ("Mr. Hopeful") erect a perfect city in the clouds, to be named Cloud Cuckoo Land (Νεφελοκοκκυγία, Nephelokokkygia).
The German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer used the word (German Wolkenkuckucksheim) in his publication On the Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason in 1813,[2] as well as later in his main work The World as Will and Representation[3] and in other places. Here, he gave it its figurative sense by reproaching other philosophers for only talking about Cloud-cuckoo-land. The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche refers to the term in his essay "On Truth and Lying in a Nonmoral Sense."

The fool expects people with a brain to believe that he has access to my accounts and can, therefore, comment on my bets with authority.
So clearly a moron it is hardly worth pointing it out.

I don't need to eat another steak to know what a steak tastes like.
Anyone of sane mind knows that even before the tip goes up the price is gone. The sane bit obviously counts you out
You are a dreamer of the very highest order, you have to resort to making up bets and prices that in your cloud cuckoo mind maybe you think you really achieved.

They type lies and nonsense, we make huge profits. One of them is actually quoting the time that I posted as some kind of guide to when I placed my bet!!!
The idiocy is astounding.

Hugh is clearly a very good judge and from what I can tell a thoroughly decent bloke but unfortunately all he is doing is marking the bookmakers cards with his column. If I was anywhere near as good as him I wouldn't be tipping up for ATR that's for sure.

His column is now just a joke ,marking bookmakers cards without anyone at all having a chance to get a bet, he seems like a genuine enough guy without a trace of ego about him but its now becoming stupid. I have been full time as a pro ganbler since 1994 and since Hugh started his column he has cost me fortunes because when he tips one up in the morning that i fancy, the price becomes unbackable. If he was putting his own money up then i would take it on the chin when one shortens, but the reality is no one is getting on at these early prices.

some moan and cry - others smash into the big prices
Yet more proof of what a coco you are.
You actually think people on here believe you can back one of his tips for anything other than pennies at advised prices. The advised prices are not available, something Hugh has admitted to himself

Should also say that whatever me or anyone else says about the unobtainable prices, he is without a doubt as good a judge as i have come across at this game. That winner earlier was a strange one though.

I guess you may be right ghost , its one thing to be tipping on atr and another to back enough winners to live. Pressure makes you make odd choices from time to time.

oor wullie 04 Dec 14 18:33 Thats a task in itself sir epicure , i cant get two bob on at 9.30am and the liquidity on here in all but the big meetings is non existent.
Do you always wait until the day of the race to have a bet ? The form etc. is all there the day before ( at worse), so if you pick one out,why not back BOG the previous evening ?

I'm afraid i believe wullie is correct...just a charade now from which the only people to benefit are the bookies and Hugh himself, as he's presumably on a decent wage...he's said he'll never go the tipping line route, so i guess we're stuck with him marking the bookies cards to the detriment of punters...given that no-one can get on, is there a need for the tips to go on @ 9.30am-10.30am? if they went up at 12, like Pr!cew!se Extra, it would at least give punters a couple of hours to go at the morning prices (it would make his task harder but we've already established no-one's getting on so that's all a bit irrelevant in reality)

Oh if it was that simple facts, what do you think you can get on in a 0-60 handicap at wolverhampton 24 hours before the race? You would get the price of a fish supper on, then they would shorten it for good measure.

all well and good if a) you havent had your account closed with bookmaker in question, and b) you have nothing else to do than sit and watch internet for an hour each morning...that's possible if a) you lose overall, and b) you have no life...which means, if i have done my calculations correctly, that those that get on (windsor_boy self-cert)= no-life losers...Eureka!

Pricewise Extra have been putting their tips up at 10:00 for quite some time, Duncan.
Otherwise, I agree with the sentiment about putting them up later.

cheers WFT...wasnt aware of that (obv!)...are their tips moving the market, would you know? i'm happier taking on a tipster-led market move than a move i cant explain so easily

No loss account with a few bookies methinks, still a bloody genius.
Agreed, on both counts
