Unfortunately, not as good as they previously were under Toby. Would have liked to have known how he came to train them.

...So True beat Shareef Dancer in a handicap a few weeks before SD trounced Caerleon and Teenoso in a record breaking Irish Derby.

"Jockey John Egan had incurred Toby Balding's displeasure by putting up overweight when he won the Newbury Spring Cup, and was in trouble with the trainer again, this time for winning too far!

After Egan had steered the gelding home five lengths clear of Showboat, Balding joked: "He put up overweight at Newbury, and now obviously the wing mirrors aren't working!"

Bomb Alaska, who Balding believes is named after a dessert, was bred by owner Bridget Swire out of So True, whom he recalls beating the subsequent Irish Derby winner Shareef Dancer in Sandown's Esher Cup."

Accuracy - a good staying mare, who in turn produced Brave Tornado and Accipiter.

Accipiter was the complete opposite of the current horse of that name (a filly suited by 5f on quick ground) - he was a gelding suited by 3 miles on soft, who won the Grade 1 3 mile novice hurdle at Aintree for GB, but unfortunately went wrong on his next race, and was presumably put down, because he never raced again.

Did he train Trasi Girl as a 2yo? I remember seeing her at Sandown one evening, on the same card that Athens Wood ran. They were both 2yos, but in different races. She was pretty quick.

Bellator was a useful horse he trained. He started off with a bang as a juvenile hurdler, and was favourite for the Triumph at one time, I think.

He always gave the credit for Little Polveir's Grand National win to John Edwards, because he only got hold of the horse shortly before the race. But that was him, I guess.

Boraceva won the 4 miler at the Cheltenham festival.

Mustn't forget Robin Goodfellow.

He had a few by Phardante who were thought of as long term chasing prospects, but generally turned out to be cumbersome donkeys. Hurdante was one who wasn't too bad.

Trwyn Cilan, and her daughter Rivers Rhapsody - both won valuable 5f sprint handicaps on Ascot Saturdays.

He trained The Last Fling as a hurdler and a novice chaser, was only sold when the owner died (mj)

I thought the Smiths bought him as a 5yo, sold him to Michael Jackson, and trained him throughout.

Accuracy was Favourite for the Chester Cup in around 1986 , there was a flag start and the Mare whipped around and lost a few lengths as the flag fell . It struggled from there on . The jockey was Richard Fox .

Morley Street was by far (in my time) his best horse.

Cant remember the horses name but it won at Goodwood in bottomless ground after days of it pissing down.
