We have got to a stage in this glorious sport where the big stables are trying to get certain horses to win Group races to ship them off to stud with a Group win. The serious question to be asked here is why did the winning jockey stop riding anyway?

The sad thing is we all saw what happened with our own eyes and chapman was 100% correct in what he was impling after the race but that wont stop numerous people in racing trying to tell us that the winner is a hard ride and 'how many times have you pushed a horse around the curragh'

he should be banned anyway, he didnt ride the horse on its merits.

How on earth can you ban a jockey for not trying on a winner. Agreed it didn't look great , but you start threading a very fine line when you punish people for winning

I tuned into an interview with Aidan after the Irish Oaks, and to be fair the question might have been why hadn't Joseph picked the winner to ride, but he was going on about why Joseph had picked another one.

I backed Kingsbarns, and certainly wish Heffernan had succeeded in doing what he so obviously attempted to. Did not look good.

Ibrahima Sonko I'm not saying it didn't look bad , but if you ban heffernan for winning a race cosily  when you suppose he was trying to let his stablemate win, well then every jockey in the future that wins cosily or confidentially should be potentially up for a ban

Broke no rules I'm aware of, but if he's just running to make the pace for a stablemate he shouldn't be in the betting.

if you put this race side by side with other winning rides by heffernan , you would definitely see a difference in body language

plus , i have not seen a jockey take so many glances to his side to see where the other horses are ( exept for that cosgrave ride in dubai ) , if you are trying to make the horse run as fast as it can 1 and a half furlongs out , it makes no difference where the opposition are , unless you are trying to win cosily , which he wasn't

What's interesting is that Heffernan didn't go for his whip as the heavily pushed and whipped Kingsbarns hit the front.

I think winning cosily is totally different to what we just saw, i know it would be hard to prove what really went on but it cant be all ok just because he won.

He was clearly trying not to win, if that is ok just because the horse won then the game is never going to get better.

I bet they dont even interview him.

Look at the betting on the Coolmore pair -Kingsbarn drifted from 6/4 to 9/4 while Hall Of Mirrors hardened from 8/1 to 13/2. Doesn't take much working out that the result did not come as a huge surprise to mega-gambling Ballydoyle!

He done everything he could not to win, but unfortunately Kingsbarns was not good enough to take advantage  of the situation.

Unfortunately you are making an assumption on what you saw that he didnt want to win. Being banned on an assumption, cant be right and would never work.

What would Heffernan be charged with, assuming the Stewards do get involved - FAILURE TO HIT HIS HORSE perhaps???
