Haven't read all the other posts but CR made the odd decent record. Move It was a pretty good effort for UK 'rock n roll' at the time. We Don't Talk Anymore was a great pop record - and his duet with Phil Everley 'She Means Nothing to Me' an overlooked gem ( and much better than the rancid Whenever God Shines His Light duet with the over rated Van Morrison).Also made quite a dark film Expresso Bongo. I seem to recall punk guru Malcolm McLaren was a big fan. Unfortunately his occasional decent records were swamped by the loads of dross he had success with. Typical British showbiz type in that he ascribed his success to his hard work rather than his good fortune in being in right place at right time and often slagged off those less fortunate like the unemployed who he branded lazy . Laterally pals with the similarly inclined Tony Blair. Frequently slagged for being 'non-combatant' ie asexual, till emergence of details about long term partner so bit ironic that he's now being investigated for this sort of thing. Used to be suggested he was romantically involved with Sue Barker though as she aged , Cliff appeared younger suggesting some sort of Dorian Gray deal with her. However his superficial youthful appearance undermined by tortoise neck.

why do people wait 30 or 40 years to report these things.
are they now hoping for TV fame or simply hoping for a large payoff.
hello officer I was attacked 30 years ago but didn't bother reporting it until I saw something in a newspaper recently saying that I might be entitled to sue for a lot of money.

There were suggestions at the time that there was more to it than that. I seem to remember him being similiarly "romantically linked " with Una Stubbs and Olivia Newton-John. They were all definitely good-looking women and certainly over the age of consent.

hello officer I was attacked 30 years ago but didn't bother reporting it until I saw something in a newspaper recently saying that I might be entitled to sue for a lot of money.
Of course there will always be those prepared to jump on the band wagon and lie but surely you must realise other consequences of coming forward at the time of it happening.
Apart from the obvious of putting themselves in the spotlight and having to relive it all, that would be bad enough when the accused is Joe Bloggs but will be much more of a circus when it's a celebrity. Detecting methods and techniques are far more advanced now than then too and nobody wants to go first in many of these things and have to do so in isolation either, yet if all of these accused celebrities so far were found innocent then I doubt too many alleged victims would be coming forward, although now they have seen they aren't untouchable (no pun intended) then this will encourage others to come forward and especially with credibility in numbers.
And yes no doubt money is a factor too for those both lying and telling the truth but still doesn't mean some aren't actually telling the truth all the same and the money is an added bonus on top of any perceived justice.
