2.15 PRIMROSE VALLEY will have to much speed for the Gosden filly in the first, a ittle saver each way on INTRUDER 5f where emphasis is on speed will have him in the mix at a price.
3.15 FREE ENTRY good draw if he brakes fast they will not get near him, where ever he breaks as long as it is respectable position he will be hard to beat price suggests though. 4;15 MADAME MIRASOL, down in grade to a good mark over her ideal trip, James Doyle booked for the ride and today will be her day. VIED down in trip with the headgear off each way, will be at her best on surface, rating of 55 is a winnable mark for this well bred dirt horse, needs to improve for these factors but if she cant be in the first three today then she never will. Rober Cowells horses in cracking form. 4.45 LAWYER, another one who will enjoy the surface step hated the fast ground last time, there is more to come fro him and the extra furlong will help as well, is well handicapped still and has the measure of these for an in form Cumani team, FARJAY the tempo of the this type of track will help him, he has done nothing wrong tracks didn't suit last time and another really solid each way bet him and LAWYER will fight out the finish to this one. 5.15 MYMATECHRIS, tongue tied for the first time traveled like the best horse last time just didn't finish his race off, a good even pace dropping a furlong for this colt with scope who can only improve, his form at bath has been franked by the second winning and he is a great price in comparison to some. another who will go close for sure, playing it safe and going with each way again. The last three each way selections make up into a nice little each way treble they have to improve but I am very confident the conditions they have today will see them at there best effect and are a little bit of value for me. A little vague and playing safe I know but its Monday and feel this is the best way to push start the week, hopefully in turns into a runaway! |

I think today will be a real lottery as nobody knows which horses will take to the surface and which wont. Also the jockeys wont know how the track rides so am contemplating laying short price horses.

Good afternoon,Virgin
,and thank you cj180, I was convinced Bereka in the 4:15 looked the part, but that Torridon with first time blinkers could be worth a second look?(still Bereka for me) |
|
By:
-just looking at the old standard times, and I would guess the new surface to run about 2.50 - 4 seconds quicker over 5f(but this will take some time to find out )

No problem sparrow & metro, here's the piece about Johnston and tapeta:
Many owners, trainers and jockeys are very positive about the surface, having raced on it at Meydan, Presque Isle Downs and Golden Gate Fields. All-Weather Championship winning trainer Mark Johnston explains, "In the early part of 2009 I trained on Tapeta, Polytrack and the famous Middleham High Moor turf gallops. Since June, although I still had other options, I chose to train almost exclusively on Tapeta. Our Tapeta gallop is second to none and has made a huge contribution to the year's achievement and to the health of the team." |

Very interesting about MJ training on tapeta...wonder if Michael Dickinson will be at Wolver today
|
|
By:
Michael Dickinson was at the Wolverhampton Tapeta trial .
He said that his, "wife has designed THIS surface - which has TEN CHANGES to the MEYDAN surface," ... although he did not name them.So - Where does that leave Mark JOHNSTON - with HIS Tapeta surface - that he has had since 2009 ? (old version, obviously) |

no kickback .. but looks on the slow side
|
|
By:
I do notice some kick back, times so far compared to old rp standards(trainers will not be reluctant to run,no jar in this surface)
TIME 1m 3.00s (slow by 3.00s) 5f 20y TIME 1m 4.72s (slow by 4.72s) 5f 20y TIME 1m 17.19s (slow by 4.39s) 5f 216y |
