After following him for approx 15 years this is the 1st time I can ever remember him being down after 7 months of the year. Used to make an average of 180 points per year based on a 1 point win on every selection. This years figures are as follows as at advertised prices (I can get approx 75% of the advertised prices over a year) -
Jan +1 Feb +12 March -14.5 April -10 May +1 June +15 July -14.5
Total to date for 2014 -10 points to a level stake.
Actually Like someone else said... it was quite a shock when he made a comment on only being allowed 15p to place a bet in an antepost race or something vaguely like that...
I thought - thats refreshing finally someone raising the 'well known' issue...
But yeah - could easily sound like a man who has given his notice in!

It beats me how people don't realise that most people back horses for the interest and/or making money. They will do that by following form or waching the markets or following tipsters or other methods I can't think of at moment. All three specific methods mentioned can achieve the aim, there is no moral high ground - whatever works for you.
BTW I've used all three methods, form following was the most rewarding on both interest and money measurement (but got bored with time requirement) and tipsters was least rewarding on both measurements.

No brainer because Seagull is expected to only advise specific races and Goodwood has been almost disasterous. Seems to me hopes they will win more than sound usual well thought out. Two big Galway heats were shockers.

In the City a star fund manager such as Neil Woodford gets acclaim and investors have done very well following him. Why do PW followers (which I am not one) get slagged off for following him and not making their own selections?

Because in this game we are all super judges of form and markets and we dont need no help of anyone because we are super punters all of us.

good points from the last 3or 4 posts.......while it is satisfying to do your own form selection and study some (me included find it hard to get into the mindset and concentration that years ago came naturaly ,nowadays what with distractions (missus, teenage kids everydaylife etc)just cannot consistently get into the right frame of mind for hours of study ,when 20 yeqrs ago I only had my prick to keep so to speak it was a lot easier to study without the distractions ,now all help is welcolme ,wish I could get the head back into gear ,might self hypnosis a try

Thanks TGDB, i'd already done red avenger last night at work ew and a bit ew on hughsies magic city. Been on nights so just up and not been out for a RP, I dont follow him but it's always a right chew-on trying to get on if he picks one I fancy.

-10 points is nothing. That's one winner and he could easily have turned a profit with variance on his side. A lot of punters would bite your hand off for -10 points in August.

If a winnner is 'destined' to come just keep DOUBLING your stakes every bet, should be easy to get on in the shops, on here or on course at the advertised price

I know he can get it back easy enough but just pointing out that he is having his worst year ever. I follow 15 tipsters at present and he is by far and away the worst so far this year.

Tipsters trouble is with tipsters .. yes their good but when they go public .. the bookies run a mile and close em down . take John Gough .. 1965 .. a top judge of form top guy had a phone service .. did not last very long .

self hypnosis is not a daft idea, in fact it is a key tool in my punting tool box
and it is not as difficult as it might seem
PM me if genuinely interested

Steamship - value horse tips is definitely the best but getting he prices is a nightmare. I have to run between 3 bookies at 5.30 every night trying to get on but it is well worth it. To put it into perspective the main ones I follow this year to a 1 point win level stake are +152, +154, -10, +94, +97 and +55. Those are the ones based on jan to July figures at advertised prices.

Siralex, are there any profitable services you follow where the advertised price does not get slashed within a few minutes? Where it is not virtually impossible to get a decent bet on? Or is this wishful thinking? PM me if you wish. Thanks.

Hi sowersby - out of my bigger bets which i do which covers 7 tipsters, only 1 doesnt really move the market. This is betwhatibet. They are a subscription service and normally only bet at the weekend but have made a profit on 6 of the 7 months this year so far.
