Are there any such thing?
I've used the Sporting Life sp forecasts twice this week; a few times this week I've seen big discrepancies between their SP forecast and the actual SP. And then to open a Racing Post in the bookies and see a correct SP forecast.
Dont forget the SP forecast of some race you could be reading in a bookies tomorrow afternoon is being typeset in the Racing Post's HQ about now. So are the Post getting it right; the Sporting Life getting it wrong?
Malabar, 13/8 sp foecast, he wound up up 8/15.
Alonsoa circa 18/8 sp forecast,; he was 8/13.

So is there someone reliable that one can access?
Racing Post are charging + havent they a membership/password set up? I laid (laid) (!) Malapar at 5/4 last night, but I managed to get him into a 7/4 double today with the first at Uttoxeter so paradoxically he was 'running for me' this afternoon and won, so I still managed to get a payout. Any clues out there and where oh where re the reliable SP forecasts coming from? |

There is NO such thing -
There NEVER has been - and NEVER will be. ... Because it can only be ONE person's opinion - and there are so many variables, that can change, aswell, between the publishing of Prices - and the race being run. What do you want it for? - If your selection methodology is based on, or around - or worse still, limited to the SP Forecast ... Then you 'have NOT got a hope in hell' - of surviving at this game - let alone winning at it. HORSES win races - NOT SPs. |

as far as I can tell he's only interested in the accuracy of prediction of strarting price, he didn't mention anything about whether the horse won or not.... sounds more like an attempt at a trading strategy?

Years ago our corals matched sun prices
 they got filled in surpriseingly enough . . .only lasted a week max . . . Area manger got the boot for his mad idea to take trade off laddies . . .This was the late 70s early 80s if i can rem rightly |

What I’ve done is set all last Friday’s Ascot results and SPs and to the right is the horse’s price as per the paper SP forecast. Further to the right-hand-side I’ve indicated the SP of the favourite where a favourite didn’t win (From the Irish Independent)
2.10 Malabar 8/15fav 8/13 2.45 Bronze Maquette 3/1 4/1 Fav: Alpine Affair 15/8 4/5 3.20 Maid in Rio 5/2fav 3/1f 3.55 Euro Charlene evens 13/8f 4.30 Forgotten Hero 6/1 12/1 5.00 Iffranesia 13/2 5/1 Not bad, if I say so myself, five out of six practically correct; the 4.30 a 7f handicap presented the problem of some non-runners included the sp forecast market leader hence problems in setting up a forecast. The paper SP forecast favourite in the 5.00 race was also a non-runner and yet this sp forecaster still got the correct SP (nearly) for the eventual winner. Several of the papers use some sp forecast service. I appear to have used the Sporting Life sp forecast service on a bad week; they had Alonsoa at 13/8 and Malabar at 13/8 as forecast starting prices; when both won at money-on prices. And no, Onlooker, an ‘exact science’ it aint, I, or anyone else ever suggested or implied it to be; welcome to this inexact science of gambling; itself the most inexact science. |

I have been betting on Horse Racing for a good 40 years. ---------------- What, precisely, are you doing, or aiming, to do with these comparisons? You have posted just SIX races, in your example .... There were around 8000 Flat races run in Britain and Ireland last year - and 5500 Jump races. Keep checking. |

cmon the town. always do the analysis yourself don't rely on others. and I agree with other posters don't lay the evening before races on here. you will get bitten every time by stable staff in the know and hard working form experts who know the accurate tissue. cant win doing this .

I'm 'welcoming' you Onlooker to the inexact science of horse racing and gambling - somehow you began in lines of 'explanation' about trying to assess in advance the prices of horses and their sp in advance of the race. Somehow, in that simple analysis I illustrated that in one days racing, one meeting someone somewhere in the Irish Independent got the prices of six sps correct.
I know it's an inexact science so stop 'lecturing' to others. |

I - and other respondents, on here - are only trying to HELP - and ultimately 'save you from yourself'... if you persist in trying to formulate some kind of unattainable modus operandi from this Wild goose chase' of "Reliable SP forecasts."
I can only repeat ... There is NO such thing - as proven by the Price comparisons that you have posted, above, that - despite your innacurate claim - are quite simply NOT correct. Tell me - or anybody else - just how .... Calculating the Computer Straight Forecast
Use our CSF tool to check returns for the Computer Straight Forecast. Choose the type of race and enter the Starting Prices of all runners in a race and then click the Calculate CSF button. This will show the CSF return, using the same formula as the bookmakers use. If you are testing this on a race after the weighed in noticed (when all the SPs are returned) then the formula should return exactly the same value as the official CSF value. If you are testing this before a race has started then please note the return will be different if the pre race prices are different to the starting prices. Try the sample report below, or if you wish to work out the CSF for a particular race then click the Clear Form button and enter the prices. CSF Calculator Form Race: FlatHurdleChase Handicap: YesNo Pos SP 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th 17th 18th 19th 20th 21th 22th 23th 24th 25th Set the options to the type of race you wish to calculate the CSF for.
