It's basically impossible to make up ground off a slow pace against good horses. The horses that were up with the (very slow) pace weren't stopping, they were accelerating all the way to the line.

i think we have to hold up our hands and admit that the current crop of so called top jocks are very poor
not just basing this on todays race - it happens all the time nowadays. easiest thing in the world to steal a race from the front in the uk these days cause our jocks are garbage at judging pace
