A typical Stoute  attempt at winning a top handicap with a potential Group horse.
Like the way this horse is progressing and Stoute has sure to have left a bit in the tank to win this race this afternoon. Should plenty of toe to stay on strongly last time to win nicely. His jockey will ride him with plenty of confidence after the win of Kingman and I would be astonished if this horse is out of the frame quite frankly. The course will definitely suit his style of running and most of these will be crying enough is enough inside the final furlong.
I reckon any price around 6/1 should be taken and 2.2 a place first 4 or drop down a notch for first 5. A big gamble may develop on this one through the day.

"I would be astonished if this horse is out of the frame" - that's a very bold shout although he's the obvious one to beat.

Remember Bankable? He had about a stone in hand a few years back but even the place money was lost - he was an insane 7/4 fav!

gib....just my opinion and sticking to it. I get your point but this is a good horse make no mistake about that.

duffy....What weight did FV carry?
Report Gibberish June 17, 2014 6:35 PM BST
I wouldn't try to put anyone off it...it's a 6/1 poke as opposed to the skinny price Bankable was - if it's placed, there's a small profit.

Good luck squire...though I'll probably row in with a 33/1 rag that's tailed off!

Paul 9st1 (rated 101) unbeaten in three at the time.
Report duffy June 17, 2014 6:39 PM BST
FV won it off 101 and then contested group races and running respectably including that seasons sussex stakes without winning before running in the hunt cup again the following year off of 113.

Sea Shanty for me at a decent EW price (22's), ran well after being hemmed in at Sandown a few days ago. Progressive and course experience.
Report Gibberish June 17, 2014 9:08 PM BST
Paul - maybe that 6/1 is actually good value as I reckon this year's Hunt Cup seems full of exposed handicappers when usually there are a few progressive sorts in it.

I reckon Ayaar could be a bit of value at 20/1 as he could find some improvement from the move to Cumani from Channon's yard.

My only reservation is Abseil's lack of big-field experience, plus the likelihood of the dreaded near/far split. Hopefully those with a pace angle have a better idea than me about a likely slingshot horse. I've also had a fun bet on Tales of Grimm, but I don't expect anything to come of it.
Report Macsys June 18, 2014 6:30 AM BST
I was in Epsom the day it won. It pulled hard all the way to the start and for a lot of the race. If this horse settles today it could rout these. To win as it did, it must have some engine
