They all have a lot to find on the Guineas form with Australia. TGG was some way back so I can only hope True Story and Arod improve massively and Australia doesn't stay 12f to land my AP bets. Australia has beaten Kingfisher by further than FR did. The Ebanoran\FR form doesn't stack up that well- Table Rock beaten a hd by Ebanoran and losing by 3 lengths to Third Dimension who was beaten 11 l by Free Eagle, which was 6l behind Australia.

Western Hymn has a lot to find on Kingston Hill using Snow Sky as a benchmark, thrashed in the RP trophy no excuses really, within 3l of WH more recently. Western Hymn's first win against Be My Gal also looks weak, beaten by Bright Approach who lost to Anipa who was nowhere in the Oaks.Marsh Daisy close to Bright Approach as well, flopped in the Oaks.

Geoffery Chaucer is the only one to oppose the fav with, Tarfasha ran really well in the Oaks stamping the form.

GC has a tonne improvement in him and will only be better stepping up in trip,Typical Montjeu in the way he carries himself but that wont stop him
Report boz2 • June 7, 2014 9:27 AM BST
Ebanoran has a very good write up from Ryan Moore, take it or leave it but I suspect he knows a bit moore (sic) than most of us.  :-)

However, my main bet is Kingston Hill, who has won a G1 race on soft and looks value at 9/1.  Very open race though and I'm only really betting 'cos it is the Derby and it's nice to have a financial interest in such a great race.

same as Boz
Report CheltenhamRoar • June 7, 2014 9:38 AM BST
indeed boz,and if GC had got a clear run against Ebanoran he'd have won or certainly come very close,
And don't forget it's an extra 2 Furlongs today which will suit GC a lot more Ebanoran not guaranteed to stay been by Oasis Dream,Has an OD ever won the Derby?
Report Oldgit1 • June 7, 2014 9:42 AM BST

An Oasis Dream has won the Oaks but Elbanoran, however stoutly-bred on his dam's side, will not be winning and you're a buffoon of the highest order if you think otherwise. Idiotic behaviour and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Report BornToWin • June 7, 2014 10:49 AM BST
Western has had a little spin round Epsom bannahan, don't suppose he was going Derby pace round Tat but he has had a look. He is a playboy according to Gosden thinks life is a big game.

It is, and winning the Derby is great fun.

Fancy impulsive moment to be up there with oz and orchestra
Report bannahan • June 7, 2014 11:28 AM BST
Cheers BTW....i am sure they trotted him round but having a look is always a good sign i suppose Wink
Report Goretski • June 7, 2014 11:41 AM BST
Although likeable and looks like he can stick his head out I didn't like the way Ebonoran ran around @ Leopardstown last time and I think the best of those 3 may turn out to be Geoffrey Chaucer

I've been up and down Kingston Hill so many times in my life that I can't help being attracted to the name but the overriding factor in this year's Derby for me is Australia's breeding. By Galileo, out of Ouija Board - brilliant! If ever there was a horse bred to peak on the afternoon of the first Saturday in June it's this boy. I would have liked to have seen Ryan Moore in the plate to improve the horse's chances of success but if everything is in place he should be a steering job.
Report jermaine defonebox • June 7, 2014 12:34 PM BST
Fav must be the most ridiculous odds in years. Mainly cause of the sweeping statement  that he's the best hes trained.
Orchestra for me  great odds and can't be far away.
