14.8 pts loss to his fantasy island advised prices.

27.19 pts loss to my real world prices based on a pathetic £50 per point thats all i can get on these days.

Ante post and day of race included.

What with Royal Ascot around the corner and 5 dodgy looking ante post bets things could look much worse in three of weeks time.

I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle of where you are aiming millhouse , though the golden age of following Pricewise finished about 18 months ago for me as i can only get on via shop guarantees to £50 per pt. In my hay day i was getting £250 per pt and made very good money over the years , it would be impossible to do that now and get near the prices , even at £50 per ponit i only get about half the advised prices but in the long run it will be worth it and it keeps me fit chasing round on my push bike on Pricewise mornings.

Account closures and restrictions are the big negative to pricewise .
Report cathy seldon May 31, 2014 7:47 PM BST
if hes doing so badly why all the restrictions?
Report BlazingWalker May 31, 2014 7:51 PM BST
The restrictions come these days just for backing Pricewise regardless of winning or losing.

Hows Rixy doing these days Cathy.
Report siralex May 31, 2014 8:16 PM BST
I have him down 10.5 points this year. Normally makes approx 15 points per month so 85 points worse off than normal.

Report BlazingWalker June 1, 2014 8:20 AM BST
To be honest right now I am glad I am only getting £50 per point on as my £1600 loss for the year could be £8k if I were betting £250pp.

This year reminds me of Pricewise 2008 were it was late September before he moved into profit and opened up some daylight ,so if that is anything to go by we may be in for a tricky next 15 weeks ExcitedSad

Royal Ascot is definitely a worry though as his record there is very poor with the exception of 2003 which was a blockbuster.

We all know MPs and bankers are filth though, who ever you vote for they are all the same, backstabbing bastards who work for the.... bankers... who would rob a blind man for his last quid.. with tipsters you expect them to help people, they after all they charge for this fu cking service, but what do you get... stabbed in the back because they work... for the bookies, who in turn work in a way for... the bankers...

What I'm slightly surprised at is the level of defence/mocking for the tipsters' side on here, which is curious.
I'm not especially concerned about a losing run, but seems odd that people want to dismiss this sort of posting, when it is plainly very valid.

EVERY tipster/journalist selecting horses,or anything else, in the Racing Post should have their current profit/loss entered next to their name.I wrote to the paper several years ago asking why this simple request can't be the norm. You can guess the answer!

Can certainly guess the reason why they don't unbiased Blush

I know it's tough tipping at a winning level (we all know that), but we don't all get paid for trying to do so. It's also interesting because it tells you something about markets when someone like Pricewise is doing so badly.
Report PAULBU June 1, 2014 6:39 PM BST
BlazingWalker, never in the history of PW has it been possible to bet at £250 per point on the selections and I go back to the days of Mark Cotton in the mid 90s. The maximum allowed take out in the period 1995-9 was around £2k but this soon dropped to around £500 and even less with some firms. The maximum stake allowed on double figure priced selections became £50 or so, with many firms at £25 and remained so until I lost interest in the column around 2005.
As well as 'fantasy island prices', I think we have a case of 'fantasy island staking'.
Report BlazingWalker June 1, 2014 6:55 PM BST
It was done in the year of the Star de Mohaison / Newmiil big AP double for about 6 months using Internet/phone accs and cash betting and scaled down as the accounts diminished . I am now at £50 per point and get only half of the advised odds vis shops i have used up all possible account options though it was good while it lasted. Any less than this and i wouldn't bother.

Paulbu you were banging that same old drum back then and i thought how misguided you were back then or things were a bit different up in the North West.

Then, do it yourself. I do !

Most of their regular team do show a profit at early prices, but none do at starting price.

It's their Spotlight writers that get paid for nothing. With the exception of one of their Irish Spotlighters, Justin O'Hanlon, who rarely gets a gig, their performance is beyond a joke. In fact, only a quarter of them scrape a profit at early prices. And yet, it's the headliners like Tom Segal and Paul Kealy that always seem to be under the spotlight (pun intender) !

Whilst Tom has been poor of late its completely unfair to judge him or any tipster against SP. They are all trying to give value selections and can't have any idea what the SP will be when they tip. In addition SP's are generally much lower at big meetings like Cheltenham than easily available prices throughout the morning. The likes of Tom should be able to make a profit at early prices though, as he's often basing on a near (or under) 100% book.

Agree all tipsters should ideally have their P&L shown but its pretty clear why the RP won't do that!
