racingguru.. bookmakers are not interested in horseracing like they were before the exchanges came along.. unless you bet in fivers you are doomed.

I've now got a winning BetVictor account that's lasted over 6 months, all of the others lasted a few days/weeks.
The difference here is that I've never withdrawn, even after a big win, so I think that definitely is a trigger with them. They have withdrawn BOG, though, probably because I was beating SP. To a lesser extent (i.e. won less), the same applies to Skybet and Coral. This same policy however did not work with Betfred, Paddypower, 888, Sportingbet or Bet365, however. |

I think it's pretty much the bets you place that will mark you down as having at least half a brain and consequently the books' software will quickly pick you up. Clearly all new accounts will be scrutinised as many are for punters using family/friends names etc, and in reality only truly recreational punters will last for more than 5 minutes. There are always examples of the odd account of a shrewdie lasting a little longer, but they are exceptions imo.
Limiting withdrawals, keeping balaces low, throwing in a few mug bets etc do not in my experience achieve much - the nature of your betting is everything these days. As Reynerd said unless you are prepared to bet in small stakes then sadly you can forget it. |

If you open an account, put a chunk of money in, and don't bet with it for a while - that will get it marked.

BetVic does seem to be the most trigger-happy account closer, which is odd because surely they have least shops and therefore FOBTs?
