John was one of the few remaining characters left in the ring from prior to the A.G.T.,always a smile on his face & a friendly welcome when you met him.Even on Sunday when he was ill,he sent Sean to the point with the words "I'll ring you at 5 to see how you've gone on" & true to his word the phone rang. At times we can not put into words what we feel.Today all of us that were fortunate to know John have lost a dear friend.Gutted! R.I.P.John Tony

Thank you all for the kind words for my Dad with him being an avid reader of this forum he would have fully appreciated it.As mentioned he more or less forced me to go to the point on Sunday and was absolutely delighted when heard we had a winning day. Also as stated he had many racing tales to tell and when had a captive audience him and Arthur his original buissness partner(who sadly also is not in good health)bounced off one another to raptures laughter. He certainly liked a glass of beer or two and if there is a racecourse in heaven i would say the bar will be full with him and his old mates KEnny Harrison Alan Richards John Lythall and Freddie Williams (from Sheffield) R.I.P DAD

Deepest sympathy Sean and all the family. Knew your dad for so many years and he will be missed by everyone. Always enjoyed the time I spent with John. I'm sure now he will be having a drink with my Uncle Vic who he loved a lot and they will be looking down on us. All the best. Neil.
