Looking back through the 4 days results it MUST have been a cracking meeting for all Bookmakers ? Even those on the back row or in unprominent positions .
With all those surprise results any Bookie there failing to clear at least £5,000 must question if he knows the "game"
Some of the bigger on-course firms probably cleared £100k -£200k or more?
This particular meeting was very hard for the average punter to have made a profit-but no doubt some did .
As mainly a LAYER on here I was doing ok until I lost concentration on the 4th day and laid a 12/1 shot and thus ended up £290 in front when it should have been nearer £700 without my "mistake"
So presumably the Bookies who went to Cheltenham have finally finished counting their winnings ?

TWIZZLE 22- This particular "LAY" was a mistake . It was one of six horses in the race that I wouldnt lay . But I got distracted by a phone call and I simply laid the wrong horse right on the "off" . To make it worse it went to about 20-1 "in-Running " and I should have backed it but didnt, owing to greed and stupidity and tiredness after four long afternoons of Cheltenham dramas .
That lay undid a lot of hard work and risk taking . |

wasnt a mistake then dik if you could have corrected your error but chose not to.
It was a wrong decision. All losing bets appear to be mistakes even when we just made the wrong call. |

We know that several Bookies post regularly on here .
But on this subject they have gone a little quiet and sheepish . Perhaps having won so much they feel a little guilty ? Or are they all now on World Cruises and laughing their little heads off at the myriad of mug punters at Cheltenham getting ever deeper into the sh*t ? |

I know of a northern irish layer......who got himself nearly 200k.......a proper layer.....an old fashioned risk taker......not one of these ponce bookies trying to arb every bet back on here.....and standing every fav for the price of a bag of chips......

first you need a gambling commission licence. then a computer and the bookmaker software and an LED board [ the stand can be rented ].all can be bought second hand then you have to buy pitches which costs whatever you want to spend.....southwell , Wolverhampton , lingfield , Kempton aw cost from £50 each....these would get you 200 days work per year and a bargain buy to many on here. you don't need any cash other than a ton or so to pay the racecourse daily badge plus entrance as you have it all back on here to guarantee a handsome profit every day money for jam really |

I had a great Cheltenham, I watched it and I watched it, smiled at every result and wondered how many were foolish enough to get sucked in.
Newton Abbot etc,etc might not be everybody's idea of racing at its best but the bookie is a thousand times more likely to go home skint than at Cheltenham or Royal ascot. Cheltenham is were thieves and pirates go to sell Pirite to the gullible. If I had one wish it would be to ban any mention of the place until the second week in march next year.  |

Most bookmaker friendly results since 2010 although the new E.w rules were a shock to the system for some.

ADGE - I suppose at Cheltenham there is so much turnover and probably every horse in a race is "backed" to proper money . This enables the on-course Bookmaker to make a proper percentage "BOOK" that will guarantee him a profit no matter what wins the race .
I understand that at many smaller meetings that cannot be done as there is often only money for say the first 3 or 4 in the betting and only peanuts for the "rags" which make it a lopsided "book" and hence many are pleased to arb and play the Betfair percentage game ? I dread to think how much money was won in total by the on-course bookies over the 4 days . If say 250 of them only won £5,000 each that would total £1 million. So the true figure must be double or treble that ? ON TOP OF THAT WE MUST REMEMBER HOW MUCH COMMISSION BETFAIR TOOK FROM ITS PUNTERS-WHICH ALL GOES TO REDUCE THE TOTAL BETTING POT. ANY ESTIMATES FROM ANYONE AS TO AN APROX FIGURE OF TOTAL BETFAIR COMMISSION OVER THE FESTIVAL ? |

the results were clearly great on gold Cup day but the relevant issue is the turnover and what were those 3rd and 4th line tats bookmakers actually holding. Crowd looked quiet in tats for the first couple of days.
Interestingly Chelts tats pitch has gone up for sale after this festival. |
