Evening all,

Abbyssial-
Has already won a grade 2 in Ireland,
Is 3 from 4 with its only defeat coming on its first run in France.
As its only had 4 runs it is less exposed than the likes of Guitar Pete.
Trained by Mullins (jockey booking not announced yet, fingers crossed Ruby picks it)
Has won on good ground.
RPR only 4 lbs lower than top rated in the race.
3rd highest OR in he field, 6lbs lower than the fav and 2lb lower than RIH( who I've already backed ap)
Races prominently which should suit.

just had 50 ew with hills. It seems a big price to me. What are your thoughts? I must have overlooked something for it to be that price.
Whirly

Ronaldinho finishing so close to Pearl Catle is enough to put me off. I know it was a steadily run affair but it looks quite weak form compared to some of the others in the race. Just my opinion. Good luck though.

ground maybe?

been touted as needing cut and having a french race target later in season, they said it might not go to chelt so might depend on how dry it has got and what watering takes place tonight & ahead of friday

if it ran i'd think you would have an easy trade out, the colours alone will have plenty of the irish having a saver on it

I backed guitar pete when it took care of the two hyped horses last time out. I must admit he jumped well and looked the winner a long way out. However I think he is priced just about right. So wont be backing him unless he drifts.

Will it deffo run whirly?

Here's a quote from Willie after lto:

It was a very good performance. I wasn't happy with his jumping over the first few but other than that he was impressive - when he needed the jumps he got them. He looks to be improving all the time.

I'll have to talk to the owner and see if he travels (to Cheltenham) or we keep him at home. I would like a wet Cheltenham for him, he wouldn't want it to dry and if it did he wouldn't go.

don't think pear castle is anywere near good enough to win this . just my opinion, need a horse that stays really well in this race . they stepped pearly castle up in trip after it won over 1m 2f to a 1m4f race it was last off 7 stamina doupt's perhaps on the stiff track and always a furious gallop in this race ?

I'll be cheering on hussar too. Managed to sneak 50 on with hills at 25-1 a.p. bad luck with the new one, i was on mtoy with a saver on jetzi, not a penny on the forecast!

I better head to chelts and turn the sprinklers on!

Anybody know if hills are nrnb? If they are I may put some more on. I agree with you Elise, should be able to trade out.

On a different subject what are your thoughts on he Ryanair? Think I'm going to be up a while tonight studying the form at least until the rage from birminghams last minute equaliser fades. Cost me a big payout on my acca and I'm a villa fan! Hey ho.

just to point out Pearl Castle did not fail in his only start at 12 furlongs due to lack of stamina

he completely failed to settle because the gallop was too slow, pulled too hard and gave himself no chance of staying

I'm on at 25s so fingers crossed for Friday - good ground and a strong gallop

The best horses in the race all have something to prove in terms of well being, of them menorah has to be the pick if Hobbs has got him firing again.

Of the in form horses, at the prices I'm going to have to go with hidden cyclone. Looking at its hurdling and novice days, it's run some very decent horses close. Looks like it had a bad spell and didn't really train on but now seems to be coming back to the boil. Handles the track and will enjoy the ground. Decent ew price. 10-1. Menorah a shade shorter.

Mmmmmmmm, G.Pete won`t get up the hill that`s a gimme, Pearl Castle is fine @25/1 but may be fighting for a place only. I like Broughton on @14/1 with Ladbrokes hope they don`t water too much though......

Judo is correct regards Pearl Castle, he was a bit of a boy, he had issues going down and refused to go in the stalls that summer too.

Who knows if he's good enough, the better race and gallop will be a plus, stamina isn't a negative for me, too soft ground would be.

Sorry Whirly ur punt has a lot to find on the form in my opinion, those horses he has beaten are a poor bunch. My advice would be to get out of the bet I would be very surprised if good enough. The odds on Broughton are diminishing but I`m expecting a big run and will be disappointed if not involved.

Well done judorick, I had the 2nd and the forecast. Had a cracking day with Tarquin du seuile and more of that. 3 winners would have been greedy.

I have noticed abbyssial's price has come down...........and yes ruby is on it, go on you good thing! Or royal Irish hussar I'll be chuffed either way.

Going to have another look at the form tonight.......maybe have a couple of savers.

It's a tricky race, just lucky to have got on a couple at big prices. I've been studying the form tonight to look for a couple of cover bets. Here's where I am at.

I think calipto deserves to be fav, but is not getting much of a mention on here. The one I think is too short is broughton. The going is an unknown for tiger roll. I think guitar pete's form has hit it's level now and something less exposed will improve past it. If plinth was proven on the going I could be tempted, but I'm more concerned about Henderson's 2nd string Kentucky Hyden. There are other dangers I have not mentioned, but at the prices I'm not prepared to back them.

So I'll put enough on calipto to get my stakes back on hussar and abbyssial and have a small ew on Kentucky Hayden. Then hope one of the big priced ones go in and pocket a nice win.

Let me know your thoughts.

Could turn into a costly race, lol.
