Disgusting lack of effort there - and yes, I was a backer.

Rides for the top French NH yard, clearly awful.UMM
Report Barton Bank March 4, 2014 2:33 PM GMT
No bet here but it was perfectly clear from both the market and the way the second horse was ridden what was going on there.

Lol the winner had a stone PLUS in hand he was coasting the last two furlongs. Was never ever going to beat the fave lads come on now.Laugh
Report ThunderRoad March 4, 2014 2:42 PM GMT
Don't think it would have beaten the winner, but doesn't excuse the lack of effort
Report sparrow March 4, 2014 2:45 PM GMT
Nobody said he would have beaten the winner just the fact that he made hardly any attempt.
Report skiptoomaloumacari March 4, 2014 2:46 PM GMT
agreed dont think she could of won.....but is symptomatic of a real problem in jumping with the vast majority of horses  in non handicaps not interested in doing their best

Welcome to the sport of Horse Racing where half the time nobody actually wants to win the race!

Concur with above comment from sparrow

if he wouldn't have beaten the winner.....he couldn't have been any better than second.....what are ye on about ye clowns.....

first run over hurdles...nice educating ride...
Report NOW WE KNOW March 4, 2014 2:47 PM GMT
The connections will be happy with the ride, he finished second without subjecting the horse to a hard ride which would have been totally pointless. Cant even begin to understand the problem with the ride.
Report Salut-Flo March 4, 2014 2:47 PM GMT
Disgusting lack of effort on the winner Wink Didn't Reveley try to make an effort halfway up the run in? As soon as AP saw Delta Forty getting to within a length he gave Stonebrook a nudge and he went away again. Looked like Reveley knew he couldn't win so sensibly didn't want to give the horse an unnecessarily hard race.

This thread appears like a meeting of the Jockeys Apologists Society. The best horse on this occasion did win. The only way he could have been beaten was if the second had applied some pressure and forced a mistake - not that rare where AP is concerned. You don't achieve a level of pressure by coasting on the bridle as if you are winning the race by twenty lengths. Reveley only bothered to make a reasonable effort after the last when he had absolutely no chance of winning. This sort of thing happens all too often with this jockey. You would almost think even pushing a horse out vigorously is some sort of crime.
