You are the one who should be giving the game up taking such a short price about a maiden who has only ever ran twice beaten 11l and 6l+ when never on terms lto!

You can always tell the losers on here. They use expressions such as 'tosspot' ans 'ugly little gnome' to vent their fury at a jockey who,in their opinion, has cost them a win.

Awful ride, best horse beaten. Probert hasn't really gone on, and we can see why here, he'd can't think for himself. Bar Spencer and Atzeni (who were both well beaten), there wasn't a jock in there worth 2 bob, he should have been looking at what was in front of him rather than taking his cue from those around him.
Criticism is fine if it is justified and and reasonable, he rode a bad race.

Correct. He cost me my dough end of story. Look how close he sat on Willy Breenan if he does that and uses a bit early on that fave he wins doing cartwheels.
You are right he is so weak looks shot to bits

His rep is based mainly on him coming around at the same time as Buick at Balding's. The trainer, being polite I'd have thought, often chose to mention them in the same breath... even though they were miles apart in ability.
Lesson for any young apprentice, try and get in somewhere that has a reputation for producing jockeys, Probert has been dining out on having come out of the Balding academy his whole career.

20/20 hindsight vision. The winner tanked the jockey and would have been a fair assumption it was going to fold. Probert still looked like getting there, it traded 1-8 in running, but the horse flattened off close to the line.

Fair comment Cider, but it cuts both ways as well, the fact he went 1/8 would suggest that if he was any way alive to what was unfolding in front (ie. had moved a little earlier, he'd definitely have won). My thinking is that he was looking at those around him and ignored completely what went on in front after he saw the horse cart off. i'd say he was expecting something from Spencer, but he was sitting on nothing. That's what I mean taking his cue from the others. He'd probably get away with it 90% of the time, but it doesn't make it right. He is just guessing.

Lingfield is tricky because you want to be either make your ground going down the hill, or slingshot into the straight. I think the winner stayed on better than anyone could have expected and still beat the others 6+ lengths. Ultimately Probert will think he should have moved earlier because he got beat, but as I write, that is with the benefit of hindsight.
