on the overnight racing markets!! WHY?? wtf is the point in shortening the price based only on the fact that another firm has shortened it! #cowards #pointless
Sorry don't have any sympathy for people playing the overnights. If you are that poor a judge that you have to take advantage of obvious ricks by the bookies to get a few pennies on and ruining the price for everyone then the closed accounts and missed arbs are exactly what you deserve.

surely you are joking? obvious ricks? the key to long term profitability is getting longer odds about a horse than its true chance of winning the race.plus some people may not be around in the mornings due to work/other commitments so why shouldnt they take advantage of those bookmakers who have prices up.arbing doesnt come into my way of thinking either as all i want is to have my 50 quid on at the best price i can get and if that means taking 8/1 at 7pm the nite before or taking 11/2 at 1030 in the morning then its a nobrainer im afraid!!!

Insideinfo - there are plenty of people out such as myself who could rip those overnight prices apart within secs of them going up but we choose to leave them....why?
Cos we value our accounts more than getting a few quid on and marking the cards for the bookies so their morning odds are more correct. There is nothing clever in being able to spot a rick overnight. The odds compilers/tissues they use are completely useless but they are are using you and the needy/greedy to do their job.
I understand its the way of the world that the needy/greedy will always be like that so don't expect anything to change but if you depend on these overnights for your edge you don't have one IMO.

i agree with basically everything you are saying racingguru and although you personally may choose to leave the overnights alone there are patently many people who dont as you will clearly see by the amount of price changes on any given evening.also with so many firms now choosing to price up overnight what do you really think is the point in waiting till morning for? for example if you wanted to back firm decisions for the 725 kempton tomorrow night would you not have taken the 6/1-7/1 when it was there earlier or would you just watch the price shorten in a race that everyones already up on and wait till morning?
also i dont think betting overnight shortens the lifespan of an account at all,not from my experience.what shortens the life for an account is backing winners or showing that longterm you will be a winning customer.
i am a net winner and i dont solely depend on the overnight markets by any means.for me all that matters is is plus or minus figure at the end of the day/week/month/year

It really depends what you are looking to get on. If getting on 50-100 quid is your target then I understand it but say your looking to get 500-1000 on, then whats the point of getting a few quid on cos most bookies won't let you bet the same horse the day after. Further if you are half good at what you do then 95% of these overnighter bets will end up considerably shorter SP and that's closed or restricted account.
To get an account to last a longer time and get the most profit out of it you need to be able to profile yourself as something other than an overnight shark or arber (they can't tell the difference). That means doing bets later, sometimes not best price etc. I know this may sound foreign to you but when you start trying to get larger amounts on its more about how much they'll let you have than whether they are giving the very best price and that entails giving them the chance to hedge it if they want.
I have marker accounts at SJ and betfred. Within 20 secs of doing a bet there they will cut the price regardless of whether they are best price or not and as you said other bookies follow when they see price changes so why would I want to initiate that collapse? I use them for the very last pennies I need to get on.
You and other people who bet overnight may be able to get on and the more successful overnight punters (history of shorteners) will similarly be used as marker accounts. Fortunately the serious pros on the whole don't touch the overnights unless its cash in shops (sometimes possible) and thats mainly fridays for sat racing. So hopefully you can see why I see overnighters are people who ruin it for everyone.

again agree with all your points and at the end of the day each individual punter has to play to achieve maximum profit possible for themselves and thats where our approaches may vary as you are obviously a much larger staking punter than myself.good luck cos we all need it!

maybe someone who wants to lay one puts bets on knowing the bookies will cut it rapid especialy if its from certain yards and then they can lay a 10/1 at 2/1 untill it drifts back out 5 mins before the race im sure plenty people play games with the bookies overnight prices.if u bet big and have lots of money u can manipulate the prices easy couldnt u
