Terrible news.I'd known David for years & he was always up for a laugh & a bit of craic.
Here's a little tale about David to show you what a man he was. When he took over the licence after his father died he told all the jockeys he wanted them to come in & tell the owners the truth. He took the gamble that some of the owners would appreciate being told the truth rather than a load of flannel & that they would help him get a better class of horse.Fortunately this honesty paid off for him but it just shows how straight this man was.He could easily have carried on & made excuses about the horses he had but that wasn't David,he was too straight for that. R.I.P. David |

Never had horses with him but chatted to him a few times, really knew how to get one ready for a punt, and always had a great sense of humour, I saw him at Catterick about 6 weeks ago, he was in a wheelchair and obviously a very unwell man, but was still laughing and joking. Ironically my mother has the same terminal illness, its a very unpleasant way to go. RIP
