brilliant thread...

chavman on to see how much money he can make out of his own son over 3 years...deplorable

i make it 5 pounds and 50 pence a month - you will make for free out of him over the 3 year period

£198 total - you will make out of him over the period of 36 months

covers a few lucky 15's i suppose chavman

I worked it out for you, 36 months at £130.50. By charging him interest it becomes an illegal transaction under financial sevices laws as I doubt you have a consumer credit licence. you would also be guilty of money laundering when you fail to declare the interest on your tax return. You would also be liable if the car proved faulty as you are a part of the transaction. That is just part of the minefield I am aware of. Do not charge interest, make it a loan to your child, for any purpose,  and all of the above problems disappear.

very relevant guardone imo

chavman,

I bought my son a car four years ago for £5,000. He now wants another car and it is going to cost £10,000 which he doesn't have.

He's recently gained a degree in media / journalism, but, currently only has a part time job at a supermarket which means he will struggle with the repayments. I thought I would give him the £10,000, but, my wife has said no, he would have to repay me albeit at zero interest.

I think my wife is right as I get the impression my son expected me to cough up £10,000, no questions asked.
