Just when you think this forum can't get anymore ridiculous.
What race were you watching McCoy had every chance the horse wasnt good enough on the day, Big Bucks ran well in defeat but hasnt a prayer in the World hurdle

great ride from mccoy. didn't look like he'd be anywhere near early on. got him settled, sorted the jumping and had every chance up the hill. i'm really pleased tho 'cos it's nice to see AFC back to something like last year's form.

Coming up the straight they are all looking at each other no one wanting to go first. The winner got first run on them all at BB and held on. I guarantee you AP is sick as a parrot at his ride there. He left it behind him no question in my mind

As a neutral, McCoy was too confident 2 out, took a pull and made a mistake at the hurdle. Should have won imo.
Rubbish. He came right alongside the winner, and the horse just wouldn't go by.
Not his finest hour IMO - went the wrong side of Knockara Beau and then sat still like a dummy for 4 strides going into the last - was in front a stride after the line so has to go down as a race he probably should have won.

BB will beat it 10 length hard held in the world hurdle.
I backed AFC. AP did lose a length or so at the last hurdle but that is because AFC is not a confident jumper and he just wanted to get him over the hurdle. I was pleased with the run. AFC is a horse who needs to build his confidence over the season. The World Hurdle should be interesting.
AFC is a bit like all the ex novice wonder horses from last year. Very few if any have yet won a race beating an older/more experienced horse of any substance. As for last years four year olds ........ It was great to see Knockara winning but says plenty about the others.
mccoy was brilliant getting a horse whose jumping has imploded up-its rare you see a horse win as knockara did-first/last/first.

i thought the horse was the new kid on the block ,before a few blips ,considering the stable is out off sorts i was surprised at the run , i never bet it . but looking at it again , a few valid points , he cd have drove it into the last , i think he may have thought he only had the out side'r too beat , cant say he never tried , but he may have been thinking off the previous blunder , as long as a bit cut at chelt cd go close , dont think a few off the fancied runners performed as well as they should have today .

I'm mccoys biggest fan and feel he should have won but to be fair to the winner it ran on well,big bucks will take a lot of beating if ridden to take it up half a furlong out
Fishers is on the way back and he will be the new king on the block.
McCoy was nursing him all the way not knowing what was going to happen at each hurdle he will improve a stone or more after this.

Watching the Irish Chsmpion Hurdle on RTE TV in Ireland today and analysing the race afterwards Robert Hall was complimenting the jockeys for being in the right place etc.. Ted Walsh came up with a great line that went along the lines of the Roy Keane "Postman delivering the mail" remark.
Walsh said "These guys are top professionals, McCoy has ridden over 4000 winners you expect him to be in the right position and do the right thing.
That is my point exactly re his ride at Cheltenham yesterday. He cost his horse a grade 2 win by misjudging his challenge.
The only proper critique of my original post is the reply above this one from moondan who basically says the horse was minded with a win if you can attitude. Personally I wouldn't agree with that and say yesterday was the day given the soft ground which the horse loves but at least it is a valid point compared to a comment from RACINGSTAR of "Utter Cretin"

Any time any place Racing. I can put yp with most things but not trolling.
McCoy is like the football team who win their league easily every season but find it difficult in Europe. When he rides over here against much better jockeys he struggles a but because it's too easy for him against mediocre jockeys in the UK and he can ride at a lower level and still be the best.
I took exception to the "AP hang your head in shame"post,Lustrum.
He did nothing wrong apart from not winning.

Never expected McCoy to win a Leopardstown high class chase on Defy Logic trying to make all. Got the horse beaten 40L, with broken blood vessels and didn't jump a fence properly. Didn't get Jezki to look like winning at any stage either.

Just a thought, and I know it's a wild suggestion, but do you think perhaps the horse was beaten 40 lengths might have had something to do with the broken blood vessel, rather than McCoy 'getting it beat'?

I think its very dangerous to judge horses on the type of going we have been having, no doubt in my mind if you change the going the results will be different because jockeys will have ridden a different race.

Ruby Walsh said when interviewed today that the winner should not have won a Grade 1 under any circumstances.
McCoy rode like a drain today at Leopardstown today so perhaps there is something up with him. However he had been in terrific form since he crossed the 4000 mark so to be honest I was disappointed with his effort yesterday.

I noticed reading the post-race comments, and apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but there had been a 'change in circumstances' for the winner, so to speak, George Charlton reported the horse had undergone a wind op since its last run!

Unraceable ground,the fav being an 11yo and off for 18 months,RDS being ridden like non trier and AP's mount ridden to get round initially produced a result nobody could have dreamed of,imo.
