At Betfair you always get the best possible products and services. To ensure you continue to get a premium experience, we are increasing the base commission rate on Betfair Exchange markets in your country to 6.5% from January 30th.
You can of course continue to earn significant discounts of up to 60% on this commission rate through the Betfair points system. A full explanation of how your commission is calculated can be found at Betfair Learning.
This rate increase does not apply to any promotional markets with a fixed commission rate.
Thank you for your continued business and good luck with your future betting at Betfair.
You could write and tell them that you don't get the best possible product/service 9should be easy to give examples), and therefore that you'd like to opt out of the premium service, and opt in to the ordinary one, and request a quote for the ordinary one.

There's a Ukrainian guy complaining about the same thing on footie. Apparently they have been putting up the rates in a lot of countries. It might be due to tax on their turnover.

I think the " point of purchase " tax is not a tax on betting as such it just makes them pay Corporation Tax on profits made in the UK,rather than the more or less non-existent payments in Gibraltar and Malta.

No salmon its 15% on gross profits from uk customers, but no tax on foreign customers. So if they went back to the uk completely they would pay no uk gaming tax on eg swedish customers.

Seaside, never been to Täby, but I went to the elitloppet (trotting championships) at Solvalla in past years, but not these days. I don't really like the trotting, but a few friends to go to Mantorp regularly and I used to tag along. Same with the V65 and DD, I don't play it now, but did have the consolation dividend once for a few bob. I couldn't seem to grasp the form angle and lost more than I won over the years. A few British trainers send the odd flat runners over occasionally for the better races.
Homefortea, it's dark enough as it is

Andrew - I may come over to Sweden, I am bored, banned and not potless.
cancel that last post as it seemed gay
Homefortea, apart from occasional very cold winters, it's a great country to live in and the positives far outweigh the negatives. With respect to your following post, I can assure you i'm not
Going back to subject of the topic, I pay between 3.5% - 3.7% at the moment, so effectively I could be paying 5.2% after next week, more than I would if I opened an account tomorrow with a UK address. Many would say it's a small difference and to swallow the extra, but take 1.5% over the course of a year. At least there is another 'option'
