Last night's 'gambles' for today included Grey Wulff, Green Wizard and Dermatologiste, all sunk without trace. A couple of years ago the market the night before could throw up a few clues but now there are far more red herrings than genuine market moves
By:
these gambles are aimed at a certain type of gambler if you go to your local bookies when one is being backed they jump up and run to the counter, the bookmakers have been doing it for years now anyone can set the trap
By:
to be honest they mostly arent gambles but bookmakres reacting to a market that just arent there
By:
flukes your so right,a couple of years ago you could easily discount over half the filed just by watching oddschecker overnight, now it seems the markets are being manipulated too easily and you really don`t know what`s off until about ten minutes before the off.

By:
Go to value horse tips twitter 8.30 every night-responsible for a lot of plunges it seems.
By:
Of course it could just be some idiots have put 2+2 together (a different set of idiots that backed this horse last time) and have decided today's the day for the ex BC horse, then lemmings follow them in until it starts drifting to silly odds cos connections haven't a penny on (which then drops). BC isn't known for not getting his money on at the price he wants.
wins on the snaff is as just as likely a scenario of course....... |
By:
Indus Valley for the same connections runs in the 1st at Kempton also being wiped off the boards (Interesting to say the least)

all looks like sh*te to me mukdahan son.... there's currently about a score waiting to go on at 11/4... feck I've just shot my beans tryin' to get on!

Well whatever happens with the gamble it has made the market for Kindlelight Storm and thankfully is a backable price now and with Jock /trainer 33% strike rate rates a good ew punt for me anyhow.Hopefully foil this gamble and get a right killing on a horse that should be 5/2 @ best.GL all.

All-weather quartet cut in lively markets
By Paul Eacott 10:44AM 22 JAN 2014 FOUR horses all set to make their return to action on the all-weather later today after lengthy absences have been cut significantly by all the bookmakers. Eye Of The Tiger at Lingfield, Indus Valley, Low Key and Callisto Light at Kempton, are all due to race after 350 days or more off the track. Eye Of The Tiger, who is having a first start for Des Donovan having previously been trained by Barney Curley, is as short as 6-4 with BetVictor having been freely available to back at 4-1 this morning. The German Group 2 winner, who lines up in the 1.30, was put in at 10-1 last night. Stablemate Indus Valley, off the course for 700 days, is due to return in the 4.25 at Kempton. He is no bigger than 9-4 having been an 8-1 chance this morning and as big as 20-1 last night. In relation to the others, Low Key has been off for a relatively short period of time. He races in a visor for the first time in 6.25 and has been cut to a low of evens (from 7-2) this morning having been chalked up a 7-1 chance. In the concluding race at Kempton (7.55), Callisto Light, who is due to have a first start for Michael Squance having last raced for George Prodromou in October 2011, is now trading at a low of 5-1 having been backed in from 16-1. |

Assuming Eye of the Tiger gets beat, what price Indus Valley at 2pm today?
By:
Seven Summits [1.40 catt] ex curley - another to add in
By:
Sophie surely wouldn't have anything to do with anything under-hand????
By:
the graph says....
By:
Baker Boy i would say any price you like on Indus valley if Eye of the Tiger gets beat, now revert the same question back to yourself, what price Indus valley if Eye of the Tiger does win??
By:
Eye Of The Tiger is a front runner and as its slingfield Kindlelight Storm run style is suited for this.No doubt the gamble is well in on old form but smelly kelly on board from the front is enough to put anybody off.
By:
i like julia fieldens and j wainwrights and douug cantelons mare for big priced ones today
wainwright landed massave punt with same owners last week 55s to 8s and the one today is ex varien and is top weight in this race obborr 555 kem |
By:
I've laid both horses win & place, at very poor odds. I hope the gamble fails... it's tempting to lay some more of Indus Valley, 9/4 is unjustifiable unless you have some seriously good inside information on it.
By:
maybe people throwing a few quid on known gambling stables horses they think have no chance and then laying a 20s chance at 2/1
or the bookies just reeling people in to so they lay 20s chance at 2s be an interesting day though like always collects says what the market does after 1st one runs i put eye of tiger in doubles and didnt get matched on spences and did sophies in single 7s but couldnt back any at the prices now |
By:
Imho the record of these gambles is pretty poor. For sure they do win but as my records show its 6/1.And they are always short .Fancied Kindlelight Storm before the gamble so happy to get a better price .GL all.
By:
I dint get involved but its interesting and what all the bookies in the country this is what they will all be talking about. I suppose its what makes this game great trying to work out if its a goer or a dud, I suppose the more you read into it the more you are dragged in. if it comes off they will be talking about it for years, great story and gives us something to chatter about
By:
True but both the donovan horses are well treated on old form and @ a price would be worth a bet.Eye Of The Tiger especially as his record after a break is 4 wins from 5.But front runners @ slingfield are not for me.

Also unraced on the aw.

Not really much money above 4.9 and very little above 6.6 really - If it is a proper gamble then i do hope Mr Curly is on with the bookies as he's obv had feck all here!
