For those that remember the days when you had to log out and in every hour to stop your computer freezing......I seem to be getting something similar - anyone else?

I have that problem on and off. I posted recently that sometimes live video seems to take up alot more CPU than normal which then leads to (or is it the other way around??) an unstable picture. It has been fine in that regard today though.

Waywardbert.....this could be it I think - I have had a couple of windows updates that have "failed" recently and they keep reappearing for another go. I'm completely ignorant of these things, but could that be my reason iyo?

i'm not knowledgable about computers but windows automatic updates slows my cheap computer down drastically.i do live out in the country though with fairly slow broadband.if update repeatedly fails i would run a complete virus scan.

Done the virus scan and nothing, so I like the sound of turning off the updates - now you just need to tell me how to do it!

if an update repeatedly fails I'd rebuild from scratch using the system discs. I had the same problem a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare.

if your puter was working ok last week or a time earlier just use system restore and go back to then...I'd always try that first
