Not his greatest hour and looked like he tried to win without having to resort to the whip and then did so once he fluffed the last, which was always on the cards anyway seeing as the horse seemed to have his own way of getting over them. Obviously still a great jockey but as with most when the get something wrong it's not an ability from the saddle issue but a what goes on in their heads and bad decision making one.
Unfortunately for Shane Butler his ride won't get the credit it deserves due to Ruby's though. |

just watched it again ruby threw it away easing his mount into the last

Well summarised ima, unfortunately for the owners and battered punters the will to win seems secondary now to winning on the bridle ala Davy Russell standing stiff legged and mocking your rivals.Russells ride in defeat last time on Clarcam was an absolute joke, cruising all the way holding onto the horse until outspeeded from the last, today ridden aggresivly and with a will to win not just look good and Clarcam gets home in front.Carrot you watching a different race ?,he eased at the top of the hill and let the field close up,THAT cost him the race, not the untidy jump at the last which the winner missed aswell.

Ta bazza1949 but you do realise you will be pilloried by some for agreeing with me now.

I didnt agree with you ima, just thought you summarised your view well.I thought the horse jumped well although more like a chaser at times, and i think the whip was never in Rubys mind so well was he travelling with three to jump.I do agree Ruby is still full of his old ability but his decision making is what lets his riding down now,to easy to sit and wait instead of going for it a way out.In my opinion riding the best horse from the front is a sound call,BUT you must win the race at all costs and committing before the last is always advisable,if you give your all and get beaten then no one would complain.

That sounds like a fair amount of agreement to me.
![]() Even just suggesting I'd summarised well leaves you open to abuse anyway as according to some my race reading skills leave a lot to be desired. |

When will you comment before a race????? because your comments when races are over ???????. Some day you mite?????

bazza try watching the race again and take the blinkers off , trying to get a breather into the horse is not losing the race, sitting up and easing your mount when challenged at the last is

I was at Thurles today , and sadly for me i layed the winner @ 5.1.on here , Ruby simply was trying to win as snugly as possible , He let the winner back into it at the turn in , after having him off the bridle and looking as if he'd win easily , instead he took his foot off the peddle and got done near the finish ...You should have seen his face as he walked from the paddock , he was raging ....Still the horse will have its day and they don't worry about us punters , as was already said rubys riding will sadly overshadow the brilliant ride the jock gave the winner ..

Law 191 (c) -Jockeys should never make a decision that might conceivably lead to defeat. If this happens a life ban is mandated.

Ruby's useless; as is AP, J O'Brien, + several other jocks that keep popping up on this forum....utterly useless!
Its a wonder any race gets won! ![]() |

When will you comment before a race????? because your comments when races are over ???????. Some day you mite????? Erm, that's what race reading is, it's how you interpret a race after it has happened. http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/cheltenham-ex-raceform-race-reader-john-sharratt-dies-aged-87/1003448/#newsArchiveTabs=last7DaysNews It's not my role here to provide winners or losers pre-race but I will occasionally throw in a pre-race opinion such as the other day when suggesting Dawn Approach was a lay for me when a well beaten fav as it isn't really a miler to my eyes or that Olympic Glory was interesting at a big price in the Jacques Le Marois or that Society Rock would win the Sprint Cup. It's quality and not quantity that counts and it's also just as important knowing when not to bet as it is knowing when to. |

Ruby's horse looked unfit and horrible in its coat. They nearly got away with it but this horse will improve a ton for todays race.

"Ruby's horse looked unfit and horrible in its coat".
Your comments might have had a semblance of credibility if you had posted it before the race instead of 10.34PM,you cretin! |
|
By:
Did it not dawn on you that the reason Kitty Wells said the horse was unfit and horrible in its coat was that she was in Thurles and saw it so couldn't relay this information til later.
She is also right and I think he might not have seen the trip out. |

"Aftertime" Paddock Judges are never wrong, imo.

By:
There is truth in that although I manage it quite often.
|
|
By:
Work riders comments are extremely valid as he was at the track,it confirms my view stated earlier.Kitty was also there but her opinion of the horses unfit look and poor coat have to be taken as dubious, firstly he was very strong in the betting, second he ran very well, and third Mr Mullins NEVER sends horses that cant win so fitness and condition are a given. As to Mandarins flippant comments if you cant say something constructive or intelligent dont bother.Rubys not useless neither are the other proffessionals he sited,BUT neither are they infallible, are they Ruby ?.

I know it's sometimes hard to tell on here from the written word and without hearing the tone of how something is said bazza1949 but I'm guessing mandarin's post was meant as sarcasm.
![]() |
|
By:
Sarcasm has its place,in fact i **** love being sarcastic to so called intelligent twats that very rarely get it...and thats the POINT...saying something so **** pointless like mandarin did is zero on the iq scale of a stupid prick...Ahaaaa
|
|
By:
But I think it was said more in irony and aimed at those who constantly crucify jockeys on here after every race and often based on not much more that only one can ever (usually) win a race.
At least that's how I took it anyway with mandarin saying "Its a wonder any race gets won!" ![]() |
