Hello All,

I'm 21 years old and I like the idea of becoming a bookmaker. Please only genuine replies, I am not fishing.

How much would it cost to go on course? Equipment, Pitch etc
Also, what is pay per head? Is it worth it?

Thanks for all you help

Owen

Quite funny you ask that. Yes is the answer. I am also trying to claim back 8k losses from 888 sport between the ages of 16-18. What's my chances

Chances are about as good as becoming a successful bookmaker.

Two things are in your favour...an ability to lose large sums of money and a sense of humour...good luck for the future!

Why not price up you're own question , would be a start. experience, a sound interest in form and about £250k will be needed.

Odds  of getting your money back are zero,.

owen ,
start up costs would be about 5k for licences , stand and computer system.
pitches cost from £50 [ one's you don't want ] to over 100k.
going into winter is NOT the time to start but plenty of time to prepare for next year
firstly , contact www.agt-ltd.co.uk for information
secondly , visit your nearest racecourse and talk to bookmakers , most will be helpful

thirdly..consult a good psychiatrist...fourth...remember to pop on the forum after a "record breaking" turnover day at Redcar on a Tuesday (before popping the pitch for sale on the AGT site)......

fair call chelsea....but compare that to bad weather..marketing fee...all related costs incl salary, diesel etc etc and next to no turnover and more often that not you are going exchange prices anyway..better to spend your time on here and enjoy a cup of tea in the warm.....

why bother going out for a nice meal when you can stay in each night and eat cheaper from the super markets, why bother booking a holiday with all that hassle off flying you might aswell go and sit in your back garden for a fortnight that will save you money aswell.

Just dug out the article by a large(not necessarily in size!) independent bookmaker published in the RP in 2002,saying why he is selling up,and carrying on from the comfort of his home.
Meanwhile 11 years on,and with even greater expenses, there are people that still want to give it a go !!!

this thread is coming dangerously close to bookmakers admitting that they make money out of their overrounds
i.e admitting that 'bigger than the machine' is a fib

1. find the leading hexham bookmaker
2. dial the number
3. ask whats for sale
4. pay the asking price

anything wrong with bigger than the machine AND an overround. only short ones are bigger..outsiders best on here [ win only of course ]

so were it not for the punters who are willing to back outsiders on your pitch adge as opposed to getting a much better price on here (win only)

you would lose? on the win book

Hi Jimnast, had to back it back to win a few bob on it,think I did about one and a half on the places, the public knew although drifted like a barge on here, never laid it above 8's.

one plus about the winter dodger is you don't have to compete with as many of those who do it for a bit off fun/2nd income.
