I remember seeing Eric Clapton in a topper at Ascot sometime in the 70s. I was horrified. My two world were racing and rock music but I DID NOT want the two mixing. As it turned out Clapton was the sort of yob who was suited to the posh enclosures.

it was still extremely cold water and i had my wet suit on
The best time to go in is September n early October, when it's had the whole
summer sun on it....might get close to 20 degrees if we've had a good summer.

I had to chuckle at one of the administrators knighted. I had a bit to do with him in a professional capacity about 30 years ago ( nothing to do with football ) and he struck me as self-important and rather stupid.
