If he comes back from his injury, Al Ferof wins the GC.

Is there another top trainer who is so open with the press and therefore us, the racing public?

Nicholls is not open with media- he is merely savvy enough to realise the benefit to him of being perceived as such. Good for him to think of it that way but don't be fooled.....

I agree, the bloke is an arse, I read his autobiography and he came across as a nasty piece of work, but he does still have a few in the yard that could get him back on top. Al Ferof is a good horse and if the injury hasn't ruined him he has a great chance in the GC.

yeah.....i found PN's openness about Kauto's fall in training before the Gold Cup very refreshing

A few seasons ago Nicholls appeared to be sourcing all the good young horses coming through, now it appears as if Henderson and Mullins are getting their hands on them (would be nice to see a greater spread of NH trainers with big owners. You have to wonder why this has happened. Definitely would not write him off though, i imagine he'll be back, although it might take a few years.

Everything Al Ferof has done suggests to me that he's a serious horse and it is folly to write him off for the big prizes.
