It's alright as a one-off imo, on a relatively quiet Saturday quality wise.

The problem is, there's some decent races there at Ascot, but htf can you have a bet when you've no idea whether there's a competent jockey or a muppet on top?

Surely you can do some research on the jockeys IDKW? You're worryingly close to copying the lead of many trainers who complain about an issue and do nothing, rather than separating from the crowd and taking advantage of an opportunity.

So is the default setting for some people basically that if the jockey is foreign then they must be cr@p?

The former has won the PdJC and the Arlington Million. Gen up, or lose out.

There is an element of luck involved, but that is in who draws what, from then on it is just a case of putting in the hardwork as with any other card

Hardwork, guesswork or a complete waste of time? You are doing well if you can tell what our jockeys are going to be doing. I hear next year they are staging the event on Mark Johnston's gallops.

It's not the event itself, it's the earnest and nauseating manner in which the industry's media helper monkeys will try to relentlessly sell this total charade as something that has actual relevance or worth, imho..

Ask 100 people what the Ryder cup is and u will get maybe half to 3/4 who get it right. Ask what the shergar cup is and probably 0 to 5 would get it right.
It is a joke meeting. Fact.
Mill house is right, it's the way the media try and play it up like it matters. It doesn't.

average horses, very average riders from the ones i know, very poor prize money for all that is being made of it(more prize money in 3 races at Haydock that at the 6 races for shergar cup day) a truly shocking commentator in jim mcgrath, pretty crap the whole lot of it in my eyes
