I would put up CEZANNE. He started off poorly and managed to finish 12th in a York handicap off 7'12. 2 years later he won theIrish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. Forward a few years and he was racing over hurdles at towcester, stratford and the likes.
Although the 'decline' was more to do with his egotistical IDIOT Owner - who NEVER deserved to own such a horse - refusing to retire the TRIPLE CHAMPION HURDLE Winner - sending him to several different trainers, in a vain attempt to 'keep living those Glories'.
PERSIAN WAR - would be a qualifier, of sorts.Although the 'decline' was more to do with his egotistical IDIOT Owner - who NEVER deserved to own such a horse - refusing to retire the TRIPLE CHAMPION HURDLE Winner - sending him to several different tra
I was just about to nominate MILTON BRADLEY - collectively - and cite, your example, The Tatling.
He did similar - alebeit on a slightly lower level - with another Sprinter, BREVITY, who became a 100 horse after winning a Handicap at Ascot - and ended up running abysmally in a Novice HURDLE at Plumpton - after which, he was then entered in a Novice CHASE, but, thankfully, never ran in it.

Jonny Ebeneezer brings back good memories for me. I remember following him from his claimers all the way to his handicap win off about 95. He was a profitable horse to follow that summer.
Over the jumps Snoopy Loopy sticks in my mind. Went from getting stuffed off 108 to winning a Grade 1 in 12 months and then fast forward 12 months and he was hopeless again.

Tangerine Trees has potential for this . Started off by losing in its first 10 handicaps all off marks in the 60s , before going on to win the L'Abbaye. Just needs a few more dodgy runs now.
