Pitiful effort. And he wonders why he only gets a handful of rides.

Switch jocks and the fav wins.
Report asparagus July 22, 2013 2:36 PM BST
Yep one jockey was strong in the finish and the other pathetic. What the hell these idiots on ruk are talking about i don't know. How the hell they can claim the favourite was beaten by a lack of pace i don't know.
Report Marcce July 22, 2013 2:37 PM BST
I layed him and thought he was going to get up purely because he was riding as if he was always going to get there.
Report der_der_73 July 22, 2013 2:37 PM BST
to me it looked like he thought he was in front of the horse was going to do it all for him.

Horse even had its ears pricked in last 30 yards
Report chavman July 22, 2013 2:41 PM BST
agree the jockey thought the horse would get him up without fully pushing him out.avoid pm quinn from now on
Report asparagus July 22, 2013 2:41 PM BST
yep no doubt at all that quinn thought he was getting there and took it slightly easy as well as being weak anyway

agree totally

Think he's in for a whip ban, I counted 9 strikes.

Wouldn't be too critical imo. Fair play to Nicholls for keeping the faith with him, but there would have been plenty of weight (carried 10st, PQ can do under 8st) in that saddle and perhaps that was ultimate difference?

Getting beat by a horse that has not won for 3 years adds insult to injury

George has hit the nail- back Quinn on the light ones, swerve anything pushing 9 stone...get your money back at Ascot if you lost today
Report Roger De Bris July 23, 2013 1:17 AM BST
Paul Quinn has been involved in 18 battles the last 5 years now where he has been beaten or won by a neck or less.
He has won 12 of them.
Not too bad.
Report GEORGE.B July 23, 2013 10:42 AM BST
He has won on the horse carrying more than 9st, but obviously it's tougher now the horse is back up in the weights.

Looks like the stewards cut him some slack over his use of the persuader.

The ride looks fine on the head-on, and shows him giving a slap down the shoulder close home, and perhaps that's when from the side-on view, he'd have been better pushing.

As I said I wouldn't be too critical, he's pulled clear of the rest, but run into one who was way down in the weights from his peak and had shown this season, particularly in 3 runs at Donny, that he still had something to offer.

Btw, wonder if Dandy will be tempted to try the horse back over 6f again. He was a decent 3rd over 6f at Donny last season behind a couple who are now rated in the 90s.
Report Oasisdreamer July 23, 2013 1:37 PM BST
The horse could have done with a faster pace.

To be fair Paul has done the business on him this season in class 4's for decent money.  Neither horse nor jockey are machines and the winner is no mug on his best form.

He might be interesting at Goodwood next week over 7f and a mile if races run to suit.

pretty dire there again, gave up good position and got squeezed out, this guy is a fairy.
Report Apologist July 23, 2013 3:39 PM BST
I think he's just not a very good jockey.

Regularly forgets to push with the reins when he uses the whip.

Can't all be Murtagh or Kinane
