Stephen Gough, 54, denied breaching the order minutes after it was imposed by Southampton magistrates, by leaving court wearing only boots and socks.

It doesn't make sense really that he has been sent to prison. what about the naked bike ride with everyone going through central London bollock naked every year and no one gets arrested. what makes that ok and him naked in public illegal? surely the law is the same for everyone.
By:

it is not illegal to be naked - only if it causes offence or leads to public disorder hth

so if I tell the police that I am offended by the sight of the hundreds going through London naked they will be arrested?

Not insane ffs we were born naked.

We live in a world were the naked body needs to be covered up! How mental is that?

you have a point AG..

However his behaviour is extreme...most people would consider his behaviour wrong or at least a gross
violation of any notion of public decency.
But, as it appears, he does not see he is doing wrong himself, but sees himself as right....therefore he must be insane
Insanity is defines as the inability of an individual to distinguish right from wrong
they no awareness of it...which he has not in this one respect

He cant be left to wander naked everywhere, he would cause riots, he himself would in danger.
Maybe he is happiest in prison. But he has done nothing wrong.
I feel sorry for him. I think is a harmless soul...but 'mad' he is, and should be treated as such
with care and compassion.
although I fear the world we live in now...is not far off being 'mad' itself
as you have said yourself Angel

The problem is God elbulGery, or that aspect where we have distanced ourselves from the other creatures on the planet due to the idea of creationism before Darwin.

Long before Darwin came along we had already programmed ourselves that we wear clothes especially in colder climates but in warmer climates it is still acceptable by the tribal to be naked.

Then Darwin suggested we are not God like we are animal like and today we understand all the DNA lineage linking us all the way back through animal evolution.

Stephen Gough is not insane but making a stubborn stance because he believes strongly a man should be able to walk naked on this earth. He is actually a visionary. He does not want to wage war while our leaders do, who is insane again?

the M'Naghten rules defines legal insanity I think

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%27Naghten_Rules

He tried to kill the Prime minister, and in fact killed his secretary,
because he believed The Prime Minister was conducting a personal war against him

But would he get away with it today.Confused Because a large part of our population
believe David Cameron is conducting a personal war on them, especially the less well off in our society.
So in fact not wanting to shoot the Prime Minister is the act of insanity
Catch 22Wink

I know you are a kind man Angel

But your view is just too distanced from any idea of public decency for me

I believe Stephen Gough is insane

But he should not be punished, he needs help, but he must be confined....
so if he must be in prison, so be it...he must always be treated with care and compassion
as he himself cannot see the problem with his behaviour...he is 'mad'

we shall have to agree to disagreeHappy

He is an ex Marine, activist and naturist.

As an extreme naturist he would not be the first activist to sacrifice his freedom for his cause.

Insane No...Billy Big balls activist yes.Wink

two or three years ago very early one morning i was driving through the borders to edinburgh and just outside gala shields i say a big bum with two legs attached and a rucksack atop of it ... i thought i was dreaming after all at 6am its a bit unlikely ... i drove passed looked in my mirror and saw all his gear with his pendulum swinging to the time of his stride ,i must admit i drove to next turn off and retraced my way back for another look at this curiousity.as few days later he was arrested,,, its sad but inevitable ,,, the guy is probebly harmless but if someones kid is going to see him and tell their parents and all it takes is it to be the sort who hit first assumeing naked man equally peado ...i know its not the case but lets not forget people put out windows of doctor who was a peadiatrition assuming he was a danger to kids .

You have got me thinking Angel

So I will make one my sexist remarks hereBlush

Women complain about not being to show themselves in public yes

but they would not in the main go for full nudity, because they do not want to see the male member

It all goes back to Freud, and his penis envy

he was of course right

amazingly you have converted me AngelShocked..you are in fact right

but as kemo has said the practical side of this would cause riots

but Steven doing what he is doing, is still insane in my view
(we are not ready for itLaugh)

but he needs help not punishment

Its all down to social programming, generally the body beautiful are comfortable naked in public,

yet the majority of humans are not body beautiful, if we all walked around naked there would be less sexual attraction

than if we were dressed to impress, i think it`s the way forward, lets get back to nature..with our laptops of course!

I would not like to fry anything nakedShocked

It is a great pity  we are not covered in hair or fur like the animalsSad
I am sure if I Google it there is an evolutionary reason for nakedness..
but I think people would look a lot better in fur
