I don't know who has chosen to lay the WP Mullins bumper horse in the but 8.20pm they have done so at 30/1 and 29/1. WTF. The horse is clearly not a bad one in those Gigginstown silks (he doesn't have any), and being unraced doesn't matter when its Mullins.
Given that the trainer has a 38% strike rate with Gigginstown, that lay seems incredibly stupid.
It seems the reason for the lay is that the jockey says 'Reserve' but it's his only horse in the race and when that owner doesn't buy rubbish I doubt they are messing around. Well it's 5.5 now, so clearly someone agrees with me.
30 to bloody 1. MUG.

Shouldn't you be in school!

Crapped myself layed entire bank on Buck Mulligan and just after the off mum blasted at me to hang the washing up- I came back and it was 1.5 on the run in and could not hedge out. Thank goodness that was close!

I can't filter for Gigginstown/Mullins/Turf NHF but a quick search shows all the recent Gigginstown bumper entries with him have won recently- Made in Germany, Turnandgo, Unic de Bersy, Rough Justice...Outlander. In the long term this trainer buys chasing types but as we know, bumpers were originally designed for chasers , and when these are expensive and well bred types, it's no coincidence they keep winning!

Haha it does sound like I should be in school! I'm in university, but the lecturer is hard to listen to so I'm on the forum every time! Mum still tells me off. Dad got me betting. I blame him, but when he was an independent bookie I literally lived in a betting shop!

Goater you're probably right. Still, I hope it does run and I hope that layer bricks it.

Do you not reckon the mug layer knows it ain't going to run and laid the poxy £3 to manipulate the reduction factor?

Hmmm perhaps! They might make me the mug. Paddy and Fred have it at 5/2

Gordon  - perhaps you should read Gandalf's post - your mum blasted you to put the washing out! - pathetic. |And anybody that writes MUG in a post to criticise somebody else's bets really is quite juvenile. As is putting your entire bank on one bet. So his suggestion that you should go back to school is probably quite accurate.

bibobagins you not needed here. gandalf made a funny contribution, and i humour at being blasted and i did the job because i respect those orders. whereas you just spoil the party. just because i am relatively young doesn't mean i can't say a 30/1 layer is a mug. also, I can put my bank on a bet if I want, and so far it's done me fine. YOU are the pathetic one for being so miserable. cheer up

Facts was being sarcastic Gordon, the guy is young lads, give him a break, his original post was not meant maliciously, my post in actual fact should not have been made, as the guy could have been taking care of an ill mum. Good luck today Gordon.

Gandalf- my sincere thanks for seeing both sides. You're right that I have to stay at home with mum... because a slipped disc in her back. Forum needs more people like you Gandalf who are wise and contextually aware of possible reasons and explanations behind peoples posts.

And bilbo- my apologies to rising to an argument, and I can see by your joining date that you have been here a while and so are most likely quite useful/knowledgeable. Let's put that behind us.

Just take care when using the 'mug' word.

A big winner wouldn't belittle those who pay his wages so freely.  Particularly as the person who accommodated you at 30 might know a lot more than you about how this market is going to play out.

Good luck

Touché on 'mug'. You're right that the layer might know a lot more.

Could be the £3 layer took note of Betfair's betting forecast of 500/1. For some reason, they alwas price up reserves with exhorbitant prices.

Can anyone explain how the second reserve gets  a place in front of the first reserve ?
By:
yummy
When: 11 Jun 13 17:11
When a horse is declared a non-runner the 1st reserve would have been offered the place in the field. General protocol is the trainer of the non-runner would contact the trainers of the reserves to inform them of their intention to withdraw. This would give the trainer's as much time as possible to arrange transport etc. The trainer would call the first reserve's trainer pand if they did not intend to run the trainer would call the second reserve's trainer and so on. Reserves generally would not travel to the track unless they had prior knowledge of a withdrawal
I see the first reserve is trained in Waterford which is in the south-east of the country. a last minute trip up the west might not have been suitable. There is no onus on the first reserve to run.Declarations would have taken place yesterday at 10am. Connections may have another entry in mind where they are less likely now to be balloted. As I say they is no onus on the first reserve to run

You might have been congratulated if your celebratory post wasn't so eager utterly classless

I vaguely remember Gary O'Brien telling punters that when their horse is beaten by a reserve, and their bet was made before the reserve entered the race, then any bets on the 2nd should be paid as winners. He said this because it had happened to one of his selections,

Therefore, anyone backing Waylander should be entitled to a win as long as they backed it before Devils Bride was put in.

Lock your bedroom door so Mummy cant get in and knock one out, as you are clearly ecstatic.

This is not a time for class, it's just a time for who was right and who was wrong. Baggins came on here, was totally nasty and never came back. Now I'm off.
