Considering his experience and the fact he is around owners, trainers and other racing people, he would have access to information the likes of us would not. Bookies would let him get on at prices we could never get, because it would inform them. Bearing this in mind, he would have to be a judge of Money Tree proportions, to lose money.
Although Lord Oaksey bailed him years out years ago I think, before he was famous or rather infamous

still it is easy to get sucked into a gambling habit look at that chap with no front teeth they used to have on the BBC so he could have gambled more than was good for him.. but he should have learnt by now no excuses if he loses gambling

He claims he has no purpose in life now (did he ever)
This is rubbish, he will always be part of the racing industry, scene, world etc he will always be recognised, get work if he wants it. The only thing that has miffed him, is that he has lost a good salary, for what can hardly can be described as work and the attention of course
He is also an advocate of an economic system which throws ordinary people on the scrapheap in their 40's and 50's with little money, hope or purpose.
So he a disgusting hypocrite in my opinion ..and I hope he loses his case
For all that I miss him on CH 4

didn't he get sacked from the sporting life because he had huge gambling debts with laddies.
he should be fairly comfortable now, but a couple of people have bailed him out over the years and C4 threw him a lifeline (bad form trying to sue 'em now, and he may regret it, more likely to lose this case I reckon). Should be comfortable but wouldn't be surprised if he has nearly gone bust again.
not his biggest fan but wouldn't wish him any harm.

OK Mac is all right then. Thought it was the same sort of deal as Lord Sugar and that woman off The Apprentice who sued him for wrongful dismissal and lost, and now he is after costs.
As you may be able to tell, I'm not following either case very closely.

^ Lord Sugar is after £35,000 in legal costs from that woman, a greedy chancer who tried it on and lost !
Lord Sugar said, "This case was a sham and a total abuse of a tribunal system, which is there to protect employees who have been mistreated."
Has Big Mac honestly been mistreated or is he just chancing his arm at landing a big payday ?

It's a shame lord sugar (who never misses an opportunity to hark back to his good ol' barrow boy days) doesn't give a handful of barrow boys a shot on the show, instead of the usual bunch.
