Personally I try to factor in how bent the races is likely to be before I place a bet... sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't but I would say anyone placing a bet must worry about course, distance, ground, draw, opposition, jockey, trainer, time of year and most importantly, how many if the field are trying?

I can honestly say that being fully aware that racing is bent I have never placed a single bet in my life and worried before hand whether the race was going to be bent or not, and I would be surprised if many had, it's an occupational hazardSilly

can we have a specific ratings graph for this please, like the richter scale for earthquakes, in the case of bentness we could call it the spenceometerGrin

Bathmaker,

Your problem is that you're clearly not very proficient at recognizing beforehand which races are going to be bent. Work on that and all your problems will be solved.
