Quality slurp of gravy for Alan there. What about all those pitiful fines for drug use down the years that got a mention on page 37 on the RP

Just been cleaned out laying 100/1 there........admittedly Mottybags sugar coated it & said "Simon was being very noble" but he was very right to point out how the whole organisation praises 'the boss' for his input whenever they have a winner...

Well done Lee!

Interesting (for me) point is about the Aussie horses that the BHA/Ascot have been SO keen to attract for our festival meetings.....
If steroids are SO bad, why are we allowing horses that could have been trained with all the benefits of steroids, to come over here & take on our own horses, for prize money we (racing/punters/owners) are struggling to maintain, at the possible expense of people who are not training their horses with the same benefits?
I have little regard for the bombastic Mark Johnston's views on many aspects of this sport, but I do agree with him regarding this point & the BHA need to be making some sort of statement of future policy on this matter as a statement of intent.
Nothing stopping OUR horses going anywhere, I would suggest our rules enable our trainers to aim at any prize in the world with impunity, however, I dont see a problem in the BHA as the ruling body pulling up the drawbridge & banning any horses from racing here, that are trained within countries that have lax rules regarding the use of drugs....
Why do we actually NEED foreign runners in our big races from USA/Australia? The world knows that an Epsom Derby winner will be worth more as a stallion than something that wins the lesser races they have in these countries. It might show the BHA have some faith in our sport that it might lead to other countries following our lead rather than us just trying to be all things to all men & welcoming drug users with open arms???

I've often wondered how qualified vet Johnson's horses can go from ugly ducklings to imperious swans Jonjo and usually in much more competitive races than the ones they were tailed off in?, condemning others can often just be a smokescreen?.

I dont think there's anything sinister going on there mate, I find his horses impossible to fathom on a regular basis, but I tend to think it's simply too big an operation for him to manage it so that every horse goes out of the yard at 100% every time, I tend to think he runs so many, so often, that they simply have 'off days' due to over racing & possibly this gets overlooked because the trainer simply cannot give the required attention to this number of horses & make entries etc in a manner that ensures horses nearly always hit their marks.....I've never knows a 'top' trainer run middle distance horses as much as this fella does & I tend to think they are over raced & that is the reason for dips in form & they probably improve if they get a 'freshen up' (which might be a few easy days after a 'poor run'?)
We're not privvy to this, so we end up guessing about their physical (& maybe more importantly, their mental) wellbeing?

maybe Jonjo we can only surmise, but Johnson been a qualified vet and considering Al Zaroonis's and Hendersons vets James Main (who worked with loads more trainers than just Henderson?) had no scruples I can't believe Johnson is whiter than white?.

To be fair though, you cant presume he is darker than dark either.  We cant really believe its all down to rogue vets either is it. Alot of Johnstons are hyped/priced way beyond their station as well. In general he has numbers with very little quality.

Its just the conduct of the stable diamond that makes me extremely suspicious of the guy, and been a qualified vet almost rubber stamps it for me, I could be wrong, but I think this guy has just got lucky thus far?.

jonjo's post at 11.35 is spot on.
if we going to ban the al zaroonis horses from running, what about the aussie and us horses treated with steroids.
and what about these horses wintered in dubai.
will make me think twice betting in group races around the world from now on,and they call the all weather bent.

Did anybody ever question how these qualified vet Mark Johnson horses would just keep finding more and more under pressure when they looked like they were going to be swamped?.

A secret formula maybe?

silvergreaser, that is an optical illusion. They are gradually decelerating. The horses coming to challenge them decelerate at a faster rate, usually ,in part, because they have not been ridden in such an efficient manner.

I think you mean decelerate at a slower rate, Sir Epicure....

Chief Bisto Slurper Boycie made me laugh with his comment defending the BHA, compared to the FA - "The Suarez-Evra incident dragged on for a year"

Original incident - 15th October
Hearing - 20th December

and that was contested, not like MAZ chucking himself under the bus.
