As a novice when it comes to horse racing, I have a question that some will consider very basic!

Why is the projected SP available for some races but not others?  It looks potentially quite useful if used with caution.  Does the calculation require a certain level of liquidity, then suddenly appear as the start time approaches?  It seems a bit random as to whether it's available.

Probably a pretty meaningless figure, until about 30 seconds from the off imop.

there is some evidence imo that the figure is used by traders - as to how long before the off probably depends on the importance of the race and the weight of money
