Serious question SC  - is their much 'out of competition' drug tests in aussie horsreacing such as the test carried at at God, just not for steroids? I don't think testing goes on much over here but I might be wrong as we only seem to hear about it when they find something and I've got vague memories of an aussie drug scandal last year I think?.

SYDNEY trainer Con Karakatsanis has lost an appeal against a conviction for attempting to tube a horse during last year's spring carnival.

Karakatsanis his father and stable employee, Tony Karakatsanis had appeals dismissed at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal yesterday.

VCAT upheld the January decision of the Racing Appeals & Disciplinary Board that found the father and son guilty of conspiring and intending to stomach-tube Howmuchdoyouloveme before the Yellowglen Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.

Con Karakatsanis was banned for nine months and his father for two years. VCAT will now hear appeals on penalty lodged by both men.

Tubing involves placing a tube into a horse's stomach to deliver treatment, often bicarbonate. It is banned on race day.

Before the incident, Howmuchdoyouloveme had raced six times for five wins and a second. The horse has since not won a race in five starts.

Let me say this, I have worked in 2 racing stables, both times drugging horses who were not injured whilst in training was not a regular occurrence, there are many trainers who will push a few boundaries, the above is probably a crook for it, the entire family is (fkn wogs).

A trainer last week had a horse test positive from memory.

I don't want this to drag on, you guys have your rules, we have ours, USA has their own too, other countries probably have completely different rules too, it always varies. I do not condone the drug use but the main thing for me is that as long as they are racing clean and not under the impact of any steroids then I can accept it.

I also don't think you can blame the trainers for it in Australia, they probably have to do it so that they can compete otherwise horses who are getting treated whilst in the paddock against horse who aren't getting treated, obviously those getting treated have a significant advantage.

To end this I will say this, you'll probably never hear it from me again, there is no question whenever an Australian horse travels to Europe they have a significant advantage, unless of course.. a godolphin horse is in the race. Laugh
Report J.R.Hartley • April 23, 2013 11:56 PM BST

Imbeciles, it's because your racing and trainers are still back in the dark ages and your stakes on offer and the overall pitiful state of your called racing industry accurately reflects that.

If steroids are administered in training they're not clear of their system and will be detected.

There is nothing wrong with properly administered not abused use of steroids, doctors administer them to people to aid recovery from and accelerate healing of injuries in people.

What's wrong with the proper administration of it to horses while spelling as it aids their development and accelerates the healing process and recovery from the rigours of a racing preparation and aids the horses overall development and enables the trainer to get the best out of the horse which in turn aids the owners chances of getting a return upon their investment.

Proper use benefits the horse and doesn't  harm the animal but it seems you lot would rather live in the dark ages and abuse your horses rather than help them, nobody advocates drugs in competition and our testing regime is probably the most rigourous in the world.

LaughLaughLaugh....wtf...... absolutely clueless.

A system that allows steroid use as long as they are clear by race day is pointless.....why bother banning them at all.

If a trainer were to give a horse a steroid on race day itself it would back no difference to the horses performance.

As i said earlier the benefits of a steroid are reaped long before race day.....

Lance Armstrong along with nearly every drug cheat were clean on race day.

If you search the net you will find that Flo Jo's trainer was involved in a bust up with  few trainers where he admitted to druggin horses that ran at Royal Ascot in this way.
Since then I believe a decleration is required statign the horse has not used been trained on illegal substances for a period of time before racing in the UK.
Therefore with BC the only reliable form guide youhave is her run at Ascot. I have a feling her retirement may have somethign to do with her not passing the rules for 2013 and was a face saving exercie. it would be no suprise to see her back racing before the year i sout and at Ascot next year, as stated byher trainer in the week leading up to her retirement.

Pretty sure he used masking agents and backdated documents.  Just because he was "clean" on race day doesn't mean he was clean on race day.

Show us the science that says you know more than those in charge.  Maybe you do, but you have said nothing to prove it yet.

As for BC.  If all you can do is point the finger at others in light of the most influential stable on the planet, EVER, being caught red handed, then pity you.....

I don't doubt this thread was started with a bit of tongue in the cheek and surprise surprise the usual suspects turn up and defend everything Australian (fish in barrel?) but honestly possums, you genuniely se nothing at all wrong with your rules? If our rules were as yours and yours as ours there would be no end of abuse from you lot about our 'drugged up horses'. I take it it is acceptable for human athletes to take steroids out of competition as well and as they don't affect performance on raceday (thanks for that BJT) and you have no objection to Aussie sports people taking steroids out of competition?
Obv Aussies can't call Godolphin drug cheats as what they have done is not in anyway illegal in Aus and prob goes on all the time by what LE has said., safe in the knowledge that they aren't going to test a horse if it isn't entered in any race - yep def a level playing field!

Whilst I don't condone cheating, if you halfwits keep making these ridiculous threads you're gonna get what is coming to you. I find it hilarious about how many biological experts have entered into this thread, declaring they still have a big impact on any one runner after they've left the body of a horse, unbelievable. A crew of the most stupidest people you've ever communicated with via a betting forum all of sudden are chemically and biologically fine tuned.

I find it extremely amusing that it wasn't about "Godolphin cheating" that sparked this thread it more about "oh look at their rules, that's why BC is so much better then any sprinter we have", clutching and grasping for anything you can possibly get your grubby little hands on to take away from what was and always will be a phenomenal sprinter, right up there with the best of all time.

That's the big issue here for me, not about drugs and rules, I don't see anyone having a dig at the Americans for their rules but as soon as you find a chink in the Australian way of racing.. "KAPOW"

Please reply, please. I am just dying to let rip into half of you inbred **** wits.

What goes on here is irrelevant.  The issue, is Godolphin not playing by the rules.  If the rules are different here and everybody is playing by them, that has nothing to do with Godolphin cheating in the UK.

If I bought up team racing (ie pacemakers, horses running dead, millions of pounds a week lost on horses running dead), and the fraud, cheating going on in UK racing, what would be your response?

It certainly isn't allowed here, but you ignorant "morons" will defend it to the death.

Fact is we have rules in place, based on our drug testing regime.  You have stricter rules in place, and have obviously just started drug testing.
To suggest that we are cheats is crazy, as we regulate what goes on here, whereas you don't allow it but have ZERO fcuking idea what is happening.
